More Info
This is the info that I sent the vintage camper group (of which consists of SOBs)
***********************************************
Here is a little more info about Pecatonica Forest preserve...
http://www.wcfpd.org/Preserves/PecRiver.cfm
Our rally is Oct 3,4 and 5, and we are planning on cooking all meals in dutch ovens over the fire but using a stove is not against the law ;-)
We've got a Halloween theme happening.. I'll be the only UFO.
It's located approx 20 miles west of Rockford. Judd Road turns right IN to Brick School Road so don't worry about finding them both.
It is a Forest Preserve and as such is NOT like a private campground. It's not "dry" but we don't flaunt our booze.
It is VERY nature-filled..... bring binoculars as there are all sorts of birds, owls, bats, and at night there is pack of coyotes. I don't leave my little dogs out at all.
You're not able to make a reservation until you actually drop the trailer ont he spot but anyone interested can stay in contact with us via cell phone. We have never seen Pec completely full.
Any questions at all , contact me! We'll walk you in on directions or info.. we've been going there for years now. The Camp Host is REALLY good to us.

tiny change in plans
Since we can't actually reserve campground spots until we drop a trailer, we've decided to change our cocktail party to Saturday night as we HOPE people will come rolling in Saturday.. I heard that Barb from the vintage trailer rally was coming Saturday morning :-)

Good idea moving the cocktail social back a day. Sue will be able to blend up the Coco Locos we couldn't whip up last weekend due to the deluge.
We'll be in early afternoon on Friday if all works out OK. Shop was finally sold. We are all on "day to day". Might have plenty of free time.
Don't forget all your Halloween themed decorations and cast iron cooking gear.
Tom and Sue.

We're going to try to make it - this will be our first rally. Starting the week in Door County for a few days, we'll have to touch base at home to get some work done, then we'll get over to Pecatonica on Saturday AM. Hmmm...don't have any cast iron cookware yet, but we'll learn how it's done from the masters- would bringing dessert be an acceptable offering?
I am working on a costume for the A/S!

Food update
Thanks to Mike, Dana and Sue for lighting a fire under my butt about menu ideas..
here's the latest scoop on viddles:
Friday night will be chili.. provided by sue...... but each family needs to bring their own hot dogs and buns for however many each family needs. Some, one will be fine, others may need two.
Eric is an onion chopper extraordinaire so he will be in charge of Vidalias and Spanish reds :-)
Saturday morning will be breakfast on your own.
Saturday lunch will be "bring what you will" to a joint table. Everybody needs to bring something and we will all share the spoils.
Saturday 5:00 p.m. is hors'doerves and cocktails.. you don't need to serve alcohol, a nice punch will be good.
7:00 is dinner. Mike and Dana are starting with a beautiful beef stew, we're doing a "stone soup" thing.. meaning everybody needs to bring something for the stew. Bring carrots, celery, potatoes, whatever might make a beef stew REALLY yummy.
Eric will donate bread. We'll stop at the Jewish Bakery on the way out of Skokie.
Chelle and Sue will donate dessert Saturday night.. and coffee. Dana's off the hook due to the stew :-)
And yum of yums, Mike and Dana are serving us all Breakfast Casserole Sunday morning. Mike and Sue have bacon to share...We can each bring meat if we wish.

Well they'd better hurry up to get here by Thursday when MY Mothership docks!
Thanks for the cool pic! What is that model?
I MIGHT come out Thursday night and if that doesn't pan out it will be Friday.

The '67 is home safe. Cleaned out all of the propane jets, all of the "blue flames" are true blue.
The 12 volt was not quite up to snuff though.... something like 7 volts.
Checked everything, turns out the Univolt II kicked the bucket.
So have I upgraded by putting the Univolt IV that I had?? It is working better then the old one ever did!
Trailer is mostly packed. Should be out of here and on the road by 1 ish tomorrow.
See y'all there!!!!

A Grateful "Thank You" to All...
If you are reading this, and were thinking of coming to the campground but didn't, you missed out on a really fun weekend. I suggest you stop what your doing now, and go mark your calander for next time!
Hello all,
I just wanted to take a moment and say a quick thank you to everyone who made us feel welcome, and instantly a part of the group. The campground, campground hosts, and Airforum members really made this an event to remember!!!
Keep us in the loop for spring, we really had a blast!
Hope everyone made it home as safely as we did.
Best to all,
Mary, Scott, Patrick and Stephen ( O.K. Shiloh too)

Once again Rachelle and Gary have whipped up another great rally. All treats and no tricks. Maybe too many treats. Couldn't button the pants this morning.
Thanks to Mike and Ted for putting up with smoke inhalation while doing the majority of the cooking.
Scott and family set up a great display at the begining of the loop in the haunted forest.

The decorations didn't stop there. The entire central gathering area was decorated as well.

After dinner Sue kept some of the group entertained (well at least it was polite attention) with the best 754 pictures of the Alaska trip.
Honestly photos don't do it justice. Everyone should go at least once.

So thanks again to everyone for making this yet another great Fall Rally at Pec. If you missed it we'll be back next year.
Keep an eye on the Rally calender. They are already planning the Spring Brunch Rally.
Tom and Sue
