Avatar Convention
What is the convention for using those little maps for one's Avatar: - States you visited with or without your Airstream
- States you have driven in with your Airstream
- Only states where you have overnighted with your Airstream
Thanks,

A dire concern for this camper also - the colorful display below my name is merely the path dragged over by a very rank 'Aluminum Albatross', since reaching my driveway it was moved once to clean the waste tanks and has been on blocks since.... Other than the pride of not getting totaled by kamikaze Lake Erie deer, or wrecking during downtown Chicago detour I have zero pride in traversing those States....

Or 4. What ever you want it to be. I'm sticking with states I have actually camped in - same with my stick on version I have on the inside of my door on the Caravel. Have fun with it. Here is the link:

i say states you've camped in in THAT airstream... you'll need a fresh map for every trailer (no carry-overs)!
if you wanna fill in states that you've visited sans-trailer, get a tatoo on your back! ha!

Wabbiteer took my thunder. I was going to say the convention includes a clause that Wisconsin can not be marked. Each time I see one of those maps my eyes go directly to my great state and see it has been avoided. Some will even have the states of Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, and Iowa darkened with Wisconsin blank. I was convinced that the map did not allow the user to mark off the state of Wisconsin since I know that would be the first place to visit especially before Iowa.

I think the rule should be -- only states you've camped in, with your current rig, and with your current set of tires.
Actually, I like clancy_boy's rule #4. Make it whatever you like. Not everything in life needs a rule.

You can't go home...
How 'bout states you have been run out of ... doesn't matter by who.
I could really create some fiction with this.

I went to Visited States Map and filled in a map and saved it to my computer. The size is 198x 100 and it was 6.17 kb. When I tried to add it to my avatar, I got an invalid message. What went wrong? How do you get it below the 100x100 size? Do you edit it with photo shop? If so, I'll have to do it tonight 'cause I don't have PS on this computer.

Well, after some manipulations with MS Office Picture Manager I got something that worked for now. I may try something else later, though. I don't have the full map; I'm missing Alaska. That's OK since we haven't camped there, but It does look like I'm missing something compared to others.

I stick to states I have visited with a trailer and some without... In this case first case it was in a Shasta (don´t know the year...).
Unfortunatly I have never camped in an Airstream til now... But I would love to do so.
Maybe next year here in europe!

OK, I took everyones input such as slept in, thrown out of, fallen down in etc. and checked all the states that fit all of the above criteria; So as of right now I am missing Maine, North Dakota, Hawaii, Alaska, Texas and California. SOOOO, it appears I will need to wrap my tires in duct tape, fill the Jack Daniels locker and get on the road.

i don't use it but
i think one needs to decrease resolution so total pixels in the picture don't limit the upload...
then like others it would span the entire space...
also 'contributing members' get a LARGER space for the avatar...
see pschoerrn and artlinks space?
that is the upgrade size...
not all of us use it however...
cheers

Well what do you know. I used the medium sized map and it worked! I now have Alaska on my map! Not going there any time soon, but it is there.
