I know that female voice and I can tell you that at the local level she is one of the reasons some of us ended our membership with the local unit. We did step up to the plate only to find that our efforts were rebuffed and in some cases boycotted. At that point the only way to deal with this type of situation is to leave these type of units and let them go on to their self imposed destruction.

Sorry to hear that Jack - other units that have "that voice" remove the voice so the rest can have fun. Or they form a new unit with a "new voice".

Might there be a new unit with a "new voice" in Ontario some day? As we know,lots of potential members to draw 10 from.

I have the knowledge and the enthusiam (along with a "bit" of organizational skills) and here comes the BUT. With the project I have going right this moment I could not do anything real fancy - other than be a sounding point for those who may be interested.

At one time I had asked permission to contact the members to see if anyone was interested in the vintage aspect - other than the already "blackballed" western ontario group (nice group- but just not willing to cross the top of Toronto for any events - which left us in a different "country" tee hee.

Also at the time I did not want to side with any party that was not exactly getting along - jumping from one fire pot to another was not our idea of fun. - Politics they will ruin any club, unit etc.

Nevertheless if there are any people out there that want to have some fun either getting to know people with vintage rigs (if you have a newer one) or those with vintage who want to share tools - I am sure we could find a field, park somewhere to hang out for a bit.....

It all starts with a couple then just expands....Were game if others are willing.

Sorry just not up for running an event for 70 plus trailers when they all just sit in groups of 5-10 anyway - with the polite tours/visits by the Executive to make you feel like you fit in....if some know what I mean.

Not trying to be negative - cause the Unit does a top notch job of organizing those who wish to be organized in that fashion.

I am feeling very bad and very guilty. The locals are hosting a Vintage meet ten minutes from my house in a beautiful campground just five minutes from the border that I would love to support, meet the people, and see their trailers. I have an annual commitment to camp at a rod run/camp out we've been attending for 17 years 20 minutes south of the border, so we drive virtually right past the vintage folks to go to a rod run. The issue is that it's my wife's birthday on Saturday and the "group" celebrates that event there, so I'd be depriving her of that if we skipped the run and went to the vintage event. I hate when this happens.

I even tried to convince Donna that we could just forget this birthday and she could stay a year younger

, but, that would mean one more year of work before retirement and she is soooooo looking forward to the day she can shut things down and spend time in her yard, traveling, and without the hassles of work.

I'm beyond glad the amendment failed.

Having experienced "that voice" type of person I can only suggest finding a Unit that fits or better yet starting one yourself. Miserable Units (and some are) will wither and blow away. Be part of a dynamic change.

I doubt it. I sent Wally AIR#1 a thank you letter once and it came back. I think his mailbox does not forward.

He is there, but his birthday is incorrect.
He is listed as being born July 4th, 1911 when in fact he was born July 4th, 1896.
