2 Questions:

We have just purchase a 1998 Excella. The day we lookd at it the rain was pouring down and rained some that night. Went back next day and could find no sign of leaks. All appliances work properly and it pulls like a dream.
First question: Should I take AS to a dealer and ask them to check it over for any problems I haven't found?
Second question: My closest dealer is Sagon (near Atlanta). Have any of you had experience (good or bad) with them?

Thanks
John

welcome to the forum!

one often overlooked item that can cause an undetected leak is the sewer vent(s) on the roof.

here is a how to do it thread http://www.airforums.com/forum...nts-24437.html? you can do it yourself or have your dealer take a look at them.

I would use it a little more before having it checked. A few little things may turn up with some use.

Congrats on your Excella!

I concur with Moosetags ~ get out and go camping! Make lists of stuff that doesn't work, or needs tweaking... check it out in the sun and rain! Then go to a rally and ask others what they did to repair, or ask here in the forum. Then, take to a dealer if you need more advice and repair.

I agree with the above posts. Take it out and use it. Then if you find a problem check with other Airstreamers and if you can't fix it or figure it out take it to a pro. Good luck with your new Excella.

I agree too...

Use it first, see what shows up...there shouldn't be anything "major" in a 1998. If there is, you will notice it after a half dozen nights out or the routine "snooping around" all newbies do.

The only reason I wouldn't use it first is if you don't feel comfortable hooking up the gas/elec/water without some hand-holding. In that case, I'd say go to a rally or gathering of forum members to gain some confidence first. Save your $$$, use up the eager free advice first...then go to a dealer or RV Tech if you find something amiss.

BTW, nice of the PO to arrange a "leak check" during your inspection! Enjoy your new trailer!!!

Montezuma? Welcome! I used to live in Cusseta. Do you have the only Airstream there?

No
There are 2-3 AS in the Montezuma/Oglethorpe area.
Have a friend in Madison with an AS
Jim Winkler, an attorney. He doesn't know I have an AS.
