Dry Camping in (Just Under) Freezing Temps

Spending the night in a primitive campsite tomorrow night with overnight low forecasted to be 31 degrees. If you were me, would you empty the tanks and blow out the lines, or am I safe running the furnace overnight? Speaking of running the furnace, I am assuming the batteries can handle one night of running the furnace set to a low temp (e.g., 55 degrees) without going below 50% charge, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I know I can't power the tank heaters with the batteries.

You are safe running the furnace....31 degrees may not even freeze, and it is not the hard freeze we worry about.

I have been down to 18 degrees and not frozen up.

It might be helpful if you could give some time parameters for this IMO. How long were the temps below freezing, and what were the temps during the day? And so forth . . .

Also was the overnight air calm, thus enabling the Interstate to retain heat more efficiently?

Newcomers might be overly optimistic IMO reading reports from experienced owners who know the limits they can “push” during an overnight freeze.

Thanks,

Peter

Overnight temps in the teens, daytime temps above freezing, multiple days in a row...more than one winter, in fact more winters than not in the 10 years of traveling with the Interstate.

Once we sat thru several freezing nights during an ice storm near Brownsville, TX.

There are lots of threads here on this, and how to avoid freezing up. One person spent a winter at Yellowstone, I believe.

This question pertained to an overnight at about 31 degrees, which should be easily manageable.
