Sprinter A/C noise
Got my 2016 G Tour yesterday. Love it and we are really pumped.
I never ran A/C when looking at them. I can't believe how loud it is as well as the generator. The gen is small, 2500 watts and, it seems to me, could be as quiet as the little red Honda 3000 unit-you can hardly hear it. This is too loud to run in RV park at night if they don't have hook up for you.
The A/C on low is still a roar.
Any thoughts?

Huh, I can't hear you my AC is on
Yep, they are both loud. Staying somewhere hot without hookups is not recommended.

I discovered after installing the muffler on the generator, that the A/C was louder on Max than the generator.

The generator and the air conditioner are both louder from inside than from outside. You shouldn't be able to annoy your campground neighbors by running them... unless they are parked less than six feet away.
But I still added an Onan resonator to make my generator about 3 dB quieter because every little bit helps.

The AC is loud....inside...but, you get used to it.
At night, it lulls you to sleep, and drowns out outside noise....kids whooping and hollering into the night, parities reveling til late, dogs barking, etc.
Oh, and it protects you from campfire smoke, if you don't like campfires.
My AC about freezes me out, even on low.....still preferable to one that doesn't cool adequately.
You're in a small space, with everything that is needed for life.
Enjoy it, see the country, and accept that you can't have everything.

As to your generator, campgrounds have restricted hours for those, so that you don't keep people awake at night, so you couldn't run it all night, anyway.
Our rule of thumb was always....if we need AC, especially, find electricity.
Have a great time!

They never run AC during demos or shows because they are loud - on all brands. I sleep with foam ear plugs if I need AC at night. Turns that loud AC into sleep inducing white noise. I did the same thing during my Navy days when my bunk was right under the bow catapult on an aircraft carrier. 😀

Sprinter A/C noise
When the thermostat is set to auto, the constant on and off throughout the night keeps us awake. But when the fan is set on low, it remains running at a much more bearable level and we find we can get used to it. Like white noise!

I was wondering, any advances in air conditioners? More efficient, colder, less noise, etc. that could replace the one used on our interstates.

Ducted AC is considerably quieter, but the only mods I know of on a Sprinter are the two experimental vehicles from RoadTrek that are being tested by their roving reporters (Mike Wendland and Campskunk).
