Intermediate Side Door Stopper

I don't like my side door not opens fully when I want to have deeper access behind the door or for example to wash there. The original MB door stopper option allows you to stop the door in a middle, and then to open it fully if you like. The Airstream made 2/3 of original door opening space with no ability to fully open the Sprinter's door.

I've made my research and figured out that the original MB parts for this option is pricy and pain in the neck to install it. Then I bought this small stopper for 40 bucks from Norton Fabrications.

I unscrewed the Airstream bracket-stopper (there are three screws on it) and put it on the shelf in my garage. Then I glued this new stopper on JB-weld epoxy.

It appears looks clean, and it works well, so I can open the door in a half, and I can open it fully as well.
Hopefully the JB-weld epoxy will hold it.
I will keep you posted after my following trip to New York next week.

Website doesn't look found...

Make sure to have a bigger slot for the model years 2014.5 and up, because Mercedes has changed the rail wheel size.

Try this: http://www.nortonfab.com/?product=sp...-van-door-stop

On another note, does the add pics say you can only do one per post?

If you want to add multiple stops at different points in the door track, that shouldn't be a problem. You can still roll the door past the stop to the fully open position, so you should be able to roll past one stop to another stop, too.

I was refering to Mr. Bs inability to put more than one pic per post.

:-)

When I "manage attachments", and insert a picture, then insert another one, and only the last one is appeared in the post.

What on you put it, two-sided tape or epoxy?

It came with double-sided automotive tape. With the proper surface prep (scuff the track slightly with sandpaper to roughen it, then use an alcohol prep pad to get it really clean) AND if you wait a few minutes before rolling the door over it, it should stick perfectly. Neither thunderstorms nor direct sunlight nor continued use have managed to dislodge it.

The doorstop I installed was black anodized because the track on my Interstate was black.

I also put it on the enclosed tape at first, but I did not like how it moves for a little bit once heavy door comes over stopper.

What I've done is: I scratched with a knife a needed rectangular portion on the rail until the black layer is gone and a naked metal comes. Then, using the Dremel rotary tool, I scratched the inner surface of my black stopper until it's anodized layer is removed to a naked metal. Cleaned with acetone, glued together both prepared surfaces with JB-weld epoxy.

One thing for sure, it'll be tough to remove.

I remember how I did remove some items, that I previously glued on JB-weld epoxy, from flat surfaces: put a chiesel to the sim and made one sharp kick of a hammer - and it goes out as a Shattle )))

I thought that you misunderstood too. But even so, your reply about putting multiple stops was on my mind. So, I am glad you were mistaken, coz you answered my un-asked question. Even your mistake helps someone 👍😉
