furnace wont turn on

Just got my 2016 Interstate back from the AS service and now the Furnace won't come on. The service was for a camera, a night shade and a discharge hose. It's got to be something simple. I have checked the fuse box, all seems well. I am on shore power, and the TV is working. any ideas are appreciated.

Is the gas solenoid on? They may have turned that off for servicing.

It is outside, behind a panel that is for propane fill (behind rear wheel).

The above switch doesn't care as it is wired ahead of the disconnect switch. On the round one, don't try to turn it by hand. Use the on/off switch by the door which controls it. That switch should be in the On position. Turn on the cabin lights to make sure it is in on position.

Your owners manual should have most of this information. Did the dealer shut off the propane tank(s) manually at the cylinder(s) for safety during servicing maybe?

What is your battery voltage percentage? If the dealer was not careful about keeping the batteries charged, your voltage may be too low for the furnace to function.

Can you start your on-board generator?

Also, do the propane tanks have a manual shut-off knob on the end of the tanks?

Most 12VDC RV furnaces will still start the blower motor with no LP available, they just won't ignite and start to expel warm air. You might even hear the clicking of the igniter as the furnace tries to light.

After 3 tries at ignition, the control board in the unit goes into safety lock-out and will shut down the blower motor. It usually requires power removal to reset the lock-out function to re-initialte the ignition sequence. This is easily done by removing the furnace fuse and then re-inserting it.

If the blower if not starting at all, there are deeper problems to be examined.

I started the furnace without turning on the LPG. Blower started but then shut off a bit later when ignition did not occur. I simply turned the furnace off and back on at the thermostat. It then started (after turning on LPG of course). No need to remove fuse.

furnace won't come on

One thing, that I did not mention, and it may be important. The thermostat does not "light up" or come on at all. The thermostat does not turn on.

Also my propane was in the "off position", I switched it to on, with no effect.

The thermostat needs to be woken up by touching any button. Then it has an on/off button top left. When you press that does it come on?
Then you need to select the Mode button until it displays FURN.
The outside gas switch AND house power both need to be on.

The thermostat will not "wake up". I am familiar with it's operation, however it's not waking up. I' guess that's really where this problem starts,

Most thermostats have a re-boot procedure set forth in the manual you should have. If your stat is not even getting 12-volt power, however, that is a separate issue. Are all the circuit breakers and fuses OK? Maybe a loose wire someplace? Did the dealer do any electrical work for you at the 12-volt distrubution center? Maybe they accidentally jostled that stat power wire loose?

If there is a 12-volt breaker for the furnace and/or stat, I would turn it off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Maybe the stat will reset itself.

Good luck!

Peter

My 2017 19' Flying Cloud has a issue where the fan came on but the furnace wouldn't light. Turns out it was the connection on the sail switch. Frankly I just loosened it and retightened and all's well since. Jeff

For sure. I forget if there is a specific fuse for it. If so, take a look at that in the fuse panel (not the breakers but the fuses on the right).

I'm out of the country at the moment but I do have some notes on my iPhone (!!) which includes this:
7. Thermostat display: Fused to 5 amp breaker on front of furnace.
Take a look at that and let us know.

Problem solved. The clue for me was in the 2017 Interstate owners manual (see attached)
This page from the 2017 Interstate is not part of the 2016 Interstate owners manual (mine).

Replaced fuse, reset thermostat and it's all good.

Thank you all your time
