Centramatic balancer
Previous thread discussed a new Centramatic balancer (400-429) that fit the AI. I ordered one and had the tire shop install it when I got new tires. It did fit (correct stud diameter and stud bolt circle diameter and OD fit inside the rims between duals). There were two ovals that were the approximate size of the ovals in the alloy rims. But there was no way that I could get an air pressure gauge or an air chuck on either the inside or outside dual valve. I suppose that it might work with the correct angle and length of valve stems and/or valve stem extensions. But it looked like it would be tough to check/add air even with the perfect style of valve stems. So I am in the process or returning the Centramatic.
While getting new tires I had the alignment checked - first time in 40,000 miles. The camber was 0.1 degrees - well out of spec (1.3 +/- .3) but exactly at the recommended value (elsewhere on this forum) for the heavily loaded chassis of an AI.
Anxious to take the first trip with my new Michelin Defenders - that are highly recommended by many on this forum.
