Best grill?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a grill to bring along in your Interstate? I've done a fair bit of cooking in the galley, but I'd like to actually fire up a grill and do some burgers and whatnot. Ideally I'd like something that hooks up to the exterior propane hookup and stores easily.

speaking of storage, I've got a 2013 EXT that I built a small shelf that goes in the back behind the seats (I removed the bed extension that was back there). I put some quick release clamps on it an use it to store bikes on top of (I get 3 bikes in the back of an EXT, if you can believe that) How do ppl in non-EXT's store something like a portable grill? I'd be lost without that space back there

Several options. A Cobb or similar small grill in a storage bag can be belted into an unused seat. If you have no unused seats or you have a larger grill, then a hitch-mounted cargo tray or cargo box works well. I do that for short-duration trips.

These days, for long-duration trips (a week or more) I bring my Honda Fit as a toad, and load up outdoor stuff like the grill and patio mat in the car, like it was a small utility trailer. Since I wanted a toad for hurricane evacuation anyway so I wouldn't have to leave one vehicle behind to evacuate with the other, I made sure I bought a hatchback with a decent amount of storage to carry personal items. My Fit has 64 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down, and a tailgate-mounted bike rack as well.

Cobb is my favorite portable grill, too. It's as fuel-efficient as a hibachi when it comes to charcoal use, but much more versatile.

Vulcano Works with wood charcoal and LPG on the quick disconnect. Love it as it collapses and stores easy in my non ext 2013 AirBenz.

We just bought an O-grill, will be trying it out this weekend. It fits nicely under the lounge in our non-extended Interstate. We plan to remove the regulator so we can run it off the LP tank, but we're testing with a little green bottle.

It seems that the quick connect for propane is on the low-pressure side therefore very few propane grills allow connection to the AI. Some have modified their hi-pressure grills to work with the AI low-pressure. Search around on this message board and you will find lots of answers. Kinda like asking which is better, Ford or Chevy.

I too have an EXT version and removed the AI bed extender in the back and created our own divider. Lots of storage behind and we now carry 2 bikes on a rear bike rack.

Nicely organized looks like it makes a difference EXT verses standard. I have to live with my standard just carry less and buy mor on the road.

I love this modification. My wife insisted on the EXT for the extra storage but I am aggravated to always have to unload the back to roll down the bed - especially in the rain. Do you buy chance have more detailed pictures or plans for how you did this? It looks like it came from the factory and I absolutely love it!

I just purchased a Freedom Grill FG50 receiver hitch propane grill for our new 2015 Interstate Ext. So far so good. It extends away from the vehicle nicely. Trying it out this weekend for my son's tennis tournament in Lafayette LA. I wii see if I can attach a few pictures. Loading it up this morning.

just ordered a Camco 4100 portable table-top grill. Already bought the modification hoses with quick releases and a 10' hose so we can use the AI propane system (neat advice from another thread) and the grill will be a good distance from the coach. Need to remove the grill's regulator once it arrives since the AI propane is already regulated. The quick release connectors fit perfectly. Just waiting for the grill to arrive. Will store in a Stowaway2 max hitch mounted carrier. Already have a small aluminum Coleman table to set it on. Should be tidy! Not nearly as tidy as the "Freedom Grill." Yikes!

Here's a pic of the storage case I made for it, using a remnant of the tarp out of which I'd made our Yeti cooler cover last year. Solar charge controllers may not be my strong suit, but I can craft the hell out of pretty much anything I get my hands on.
