Vanity on the part of the auto designer. Why else would they want to hide it?

Haven't experienced that problem with mine.

I owned a Range Rover Sport and loved it. I'll never own another one...too many(expensive) problems. IMHO if you want to enjoy your Airstream, ditch the Range Rover and buy a Chevy, Ford, Ram or Tundra; you'll be much happier in the long run.

Size Matters

It is amazing to me the folks that want to tow trailers with toys you are not only risking your life but the folks around you

Keep the you SUV'S for touring the jungle and buy a truck to tow your trailer

I am betting that the Range Rover weighs in excess of 4,500 pounds, and I am amazed with the number of people who are certain that there is no other way to tow an Airstream except with a 9,000 pound HD Diesel.

Your lumping in all SUV's in the same category. The published tow rating in 2011 Guide to Towing by Trailer Life Magazine for our Range Rover Sport:

I'm glad my Discovery is older and has a standard receiver hitch. I started to buy a newer LR3 with that crazy hitch setup but that was one of negative points that changed my mind.

It's also amazing how many people who profess to this statement also don't own an Airstream or have never towed with an SUV.

Towing with a Range Rover Sport

What about the new Land Rover Discovery Sport as a tow vehicle. Their info is a bit confusing as they list the max tow rating at 4409# yet on the page showing the hitch receiver they note "fixed position tow bar tows a trailer up to 5511# load capacity". Why the discrepancy? And can I tow a airstream 22fb with it. ( base weight 3600#, loaded weight max rating 4500#). Perhaps Andrew T has an opinion?
