Tire monitoring system?
I've got a 1969 overlander, I'm towing with an f250 diesel. I'm in the market for new tires on both tv and tt and I am seriously considering adding a tire monitoring system. Just want to know what you guys feel is the best brand and what I should look for.

Tire Monitoring Systemk
I use Pressure Pro and like the system. I have two trailers (travel and car hauler) and can move the monitors from trailer to trailer. Kinda pricey but good quality. You will get a bunch of different opinions;check the literature yourself and make your own decision.

PressurePro has been working for me since 2006 and has saved me several times from ruining a tire and potentially damaging my trailer. My batteries are the original ones, but I suspect I'll be getting some low-voltage signals any day now.

Hawkshead for me, saved my bacon back when I was running ST tires. No more ST's, now have LT's. Still using the Hawkshead system, but sure not as worried as with the ST's.

I'm the system.
Hi, I visually inspect all of my tires at every rest stop, every gas stop, and every camp ground. [works for me] I don't need or want another gadget dangling front of me while driving.

I bought 16" Michelin LT tires and scrapped the clunky TPMS. Like Bob, I check the tires at every stop, and don't like gadgets.

Tire pressure sensor value
I've been running a Pressure Pro system on one of our trailers since 07. I've gotten early warning of pressure drops while rolling on two occasions. The last one, a tread separation issue, occurred on a cool spring day about 60 miles after trip start. Tire (2 1/2 year old tire) had been inflated to spec pressure and inspected closely for any sign of problem prior to departure with no, repeat no, indication of a potential problem. As it was, the tire alarm went off when the tire pressure had dropped 10% from inflation value and I had the rig stopped on the side of the road at 30lbs and going down. As far as I'm concerned, visual inspection won't save you all the time. Gadget or not, they work. No different than a fuel gauge or engine/transmission temperature. But, each to their own.

We have a Hawkshead, too. We bought a TPMS after having a flat on our brand new trailer. It wasn't the tire's fault. We somehow got a large bolt in the tire. We didn't know we had a seriously low tire until someone pulled up next to us and started gesturing madly. When we got home we ordered the Hawkshead based on comments here in Airforums.
