Hensley - Pro Pride sales & deals

We are (almost) finished our research on the Hensley & Pro Pride hitches and are thinking one will be a good investment for our Airstreaming addiction. With the large price tag & heftier shipping costs we're wondering if anyone might know where to find a sale or deal. Ie: Black Friday/cyber Monday or possibly used or traded in options.

Happy camping 😎

Reconditioned Hensley Arrows can be purchased from Hensley Mfg.

Or, for even bigger savings, Google "used Hensley Arrow" OR "used Hensley hitch" and you'll find several used hitches listed -- sometimes not too far away from your location.

Have never seen "used" ProPride. I'm on my second (the first one stayed with my first Airstream as the new owner DEFINITELY wanted it). Sean did give me a 10% discount on the second hitch.

I suspect that's because most ProPride owners are satisfied with their setup, and tend to sell them with their AS. Mine is good for up to10,000 pound trailers and I'm planning to keep it even if we upgrade to a longer AS (unlikely).

I bought my lightly used Hensley off of eBay for $1,200 delivered.

I was patient because I was on a budget. It worked out for me.

Hensley - Pro Pride sales & deals

Thanks for all your replies!

Just learned that Hensley will be offering holiday deals starting tonight. Maybe we will hear back from Pro Pride that they'll match Hensley's deals.

Any advice/thoughts as to what to consider regarding "used" or "reconditioned" hitches? Both companies said they inspect then refurbish and powder coat their "buy backs/trade ins" so they are just like new. They also warranty these too.

TY

If i were buying again I would save a few bucks and get a reconditioned Propride. I think you can get a better deal on these than the recon'd Hensley. Call them both and compare prices.

Ty have you considered simply picking up the phone and calling both companies?

I bought my ProPride used. I got it off of CraigsList. The person had sold their travel trailer (not an Airstream) and purchased a 5th wheel. I actually wanted a new one, but just didn't have the money at the time. The used one has worked out great though. Used ones in good condition do exist.

Propride advertises on EBay - they try to make it look like a real listing. I think the seller's ID is proprideTroy or something similar. Contact Propride that way and they will give you a coupon code. I got several hundred dollars off of my hitch that way.

As someone mentioned above - I have never seen a used Propride for sale. That is encouraging, though makes it harder to find a deal.

TY -

Call Terry Powell at Hensley once the sale starts to see what he can do for you on a new or used Arrow (I assume your 29' AS is more than 6000 lbs, so not suited for their smaller/cheaper Cub).

IMHO it's better to get a used one from PP or Hensley directly, since they'll give you the Lifetime warranty (at least Hensley does), but either/both may also sell a warranty & hitch service/inspection on one you buy - but another member on here found it was more to buy the killer evil-bay deal &pay for service/warranty, than to buy it direct from Terry/Hensley.

I looked at both, but since our `60 Avion T20 is only 3000-3500# wet & loaded, I could go with the Hensley Cub good for up to 6,000# TW/600#HW - at significantly less than the Arrow or PP for up to 10,000# trailers. IIRC I got it with a couple of stingers (since we rent TVs then/now) & some accessories for about $1500 on a sale from Terry P. (plus a bit more a set of McKesh mirrors & spare parts). IIRC it was about $2000 all in for a bunch of stuff, goodies & the Cub.

We've been very happy with it & NO - ZERO sway at all with the Cub - whether heavy cross-winds or speedy 18 wheelers blowing by!

One other thing that steered us away from the PP was that our vintage trailer's short A-frame & what's all on it, made it impossible to use the PP attachment system - even though I preferred their bolted under-slung yoke to drilling the A-frame for the Hensley brackets.

I was also personally concerned with the PP's adjustable stinger failure potential which Hensley/Terry pointed out, but which PP guys deny. Learn about it & make your own decision.

Good Luck & Have a good Turkey Day!
Tom

This has never been denied by anyone at ProPride. In fact, the only time it has ever happened, in close to 16,000 hitch bars, is well documented on the hitch owner's web site. He still uses a ProPride hitch. For as often as Terry tells people about adjustable hitch bars not working you'd think every other hitch company in the world wouldn't use one.

Hopefully there are no Back Friday hitch deals and guys like Sean and Terry are at home with their families watching football.

I wish we had a professional football team in Michigan to watch.

Most folks in the LA area wish they had a pro team too!

Since I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Steelers are my team!

Eat lotsa food & watch the next best or closest teams this weekend.

Happy TG,
Tom

It sounds as if there is a lack of pride in a lot of pro teams.

Or, in my case, a total lack of interest in pro sports....
