Thank you for the compliment on the Cadillac! The car has gone through three evolutions in wheel/trim combinations. The first combination (with the '64 Overlander) is the original wheels with wheel covers . . . the wheelcovers were heavy, non-ventilated and contributed to brake fade tremendously. The second combination (with Minuet parked in driveway) has Boyd Coddington custom alloy wheels . . . the problem experienced with custom wheels was lack of clearance when the weight distribution was correctly set on the hitch. The third combination (with the Minuet and mountain backdrop) is with restored (straightened and powdercoated) OEM steel wheels with center trim caps awaiting delivery of the special beauty rings for the unusual offset on the stock wheels.

Vintage tow vehicles can pose a host of unusual issues as my Cadillac likes to prove on something of a regular basis.

Kevin

I would love to tow our vintage Streamline with a vintage wagon someday. But for no we're sticking with a newer car until I have time to truly restore one.

So ignoring the issues of towing with an old car, there is one thing I've picked up from Andy Thompson's writing. You want to minimize the ratio of distance from hitch to rear axle, to wheelbase. The rear overhand on that Delta 88 looks pretty long. That would be my first concern. A good hitch might make up for it.

Yes, the overhang on both of my TVs, the '71 Buick Centurion and the '69 Olds ninety eight. 5 feet from the center of the car's axle to the hitch ball on both cars. Adding to the problem is that the gas filler is behind the license plate which is in the center of the bumper. I use 1000 pound bars. They really help.

I hope that the police are able to come through for you! I am sure that it was a pleasant surprise to find that the car is still in one piece . . . my aunt's Chevrolet BelAir was stolen in 1970 and wasn't recoverd until 1972 . . . it was three states away and just barely operated under its own power.

Hopefully your good news shall continue!

Kevin

P.S.: I am not good with FoMoCo products, but that looks like either a Bill Blass or Mark Cross edition Lincoln?

It's a Bill Blass ... my uncle bought it new but didn't like the white roof so he custom installed the blue one... that's how I knew it was mine as it's the only one with blue roof... I bought it off him so it means more than just a car... Still in the same condition it was stolen so I think whomever has kept it hidden till thought it was safe... WRONG
