2018 Ram towing

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 crewcab Hemi with 3.21. Payload is 1340lbs with towing limit of 8040lb. Looking at a 2016 25fbt, hitch weight around 830, gvwr of 7300. I'm new to towing but I'm thinking I will be over payload with that hitch weight, cargo, and 2 passengers. Should I stick with a 23fb or 23cb? Thanks for the help.

FWIW, tongue weight will probably be closer to 900 than 830.

Based on my experience towing a 25' AS with a RAM 1500, hemi and with 3.55 rear, I would recommend the 23' lengthl. But payload will still be close!

We successfully tow a 27FB with our 2014 RAM 1500 with a full towing package, but we have to be careful regarding load capacity.

Yes you can tow it, but you may exceed the payload if you do not manage your load. 2 passengers and a full tank of gas is going to be about 500 lb leaving you 840 for tongue weight and anything else in the truck cab or bed. My 30 footer scaled in at 780 lb of toungue weight when hitched. I run well under my tow max but right at my payload max.

I think you will be fine, though many others on this forum who are well-experienced may disagree I full-time and pull my 27FB with my Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi with 3.21 and tow package. Payload is similar to yours. I use a BlueOx Pro for weight distribution and watch the load I carry. The Ram tows the 27' AS great, with plenty of power and a smooth and stable ride while towing and not.
