Woodworker Roll Call

Okay - I have noticed that many of you are woodworkers.

First, let us know if you're a woodworker.
Second, share a photo or two of your favorite tool(s), work, or other photo related to your woodworking interest or activities. Yes, we all like photos!

Not a professional but here's some of my past work. A sideboard (hutch) with an external frame, walnut, zebrano and some poplar, I went a bit dovetail crazy. A sunburst glove table, a bent rocker in ash and wenge (built for my spine) and another mahogany glove table but with a harlequin top.

Thanks Sandy :-)

I kind of can't resist adding a couple of tools I bought when I was making furniture. I don't have them anymore but they should make woodworkers drool. A euro jointer/ planner combo and just beside it a Laguna 10 foot slider.

I'm a tool junkie, there is no known cure.

Been a woodworker long before I got involved with Airstreams. Got a garage full of tools, mostly older machines that I have rebuilt along the way. Here are a couple:

Big Delta tablesaw with router table on one end, some ash shop made cabinets in the back:

Delta radial arm saw and delta lathe behind it:

Tale of two bandsaws: Delta 10" in front, Delta 20" behind

The metal working corner of the shop: Logan lathe, Arboga mill:

Some projects: fireplace surround and mantel in Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry)

Cherry Vanity cabinet, also did all the tile work too:

Boston whaler console for 13' boat:

End table made out of flooring scraps (more jatoba)

Woodworking - Favorite Tool

Having just resumed woodworking after a 40 year lapse, I don't yet have any completed furniture projects to share. Since getting back into making sawdust all of my projects have been shop related.

I will provide a picture of my favorite tools - the Festool MFT/3 table, T55REQ track saw, and CT36 dust extractor. It is an incredible system. Since acquiring it I never use my table saw.

Thanks Al for convincing me to buy it! Picture below:

Just FYI, there was a recall on that T55REQ. You might want to check on it.

I was notified of the recall directly by the dealer I purchased the saw from on the day the recall was announced. I called Festool, they immediately gave me instructions including the prepaid UPS call number. I packed the saw up, dropped it off at the local UPS Store and had the repaired saw back in a week.

The tools command premium prices and the customer service I received on the recall was first class. The company was proactive in initiating the voluntary recall as soon as they became ware of problems in the field (not waiting for the government to order it) and they executed the recall with incredibly fast turnaround. If only every company were as focused on fixing problems and outstanding customer service. Perhaps another premium brand we all love could learn from this example.

I'm now signed up and looking forward to attending one of Festool's upcoming training classes at their new training location in Asheville, NC. The availability of training for a reasonable fee at several locations around the US is another benefit the company provides owners. These courses involve hands on instruction and vary in scope from use of tools to specific applications (cabinet or furniture making for example).

Here's an older picture of my current project, and if you look closely at the floor in back, you can see my cordless drill.

Gary, my furniture making skills far surpass my computer skills.

38 years in the shop, 3 years in computer stuff.

Thanks for asking. I'll work on it.

Jack of all trades...master of none.

I have actually worked in furniture/cabinet shops and have a good basic skill set. The only two pieces of furniture I ever made ended up with my ex. They were both made using only hand tools, no power. Most of my tools are currently in storage waiting until I can get a new shop built with some work space in it. I own lots of rough sawn lumber as well as lots of plans.

I enjoy woodworking, metal working and mechanics.

I'm no master woodworker, that's for sure. But I enjoy having a useful hobby. Back when woodcraft decorations were in vogue, I had a little business with my sister & sister-in-law that we called "Country Woods". We had a lot of fun together & made a little mad money while we were at it. I just finished making the support columns in our basement useful instead of annoying. I made the large coffee table with 4 hassocks with storage to the right as well. Next project....new flooring in the Avion---that's what I call fun!

Long time woodworker. But right now my shop is in the snow and I am in Florida playing really bad golf. Back to woodworing in April. Right now I am devoted to trying to slow down the leaks in an old Airstream. Not as easy as woodworking.

Oh, how I wish we had a shop! I love seeing this amazing work. My husband Rob rebuilt the cabinets in our 86 this week to give me a dishwasher. He is a jack of all trades. I have posted lots of his cabinetry and bunk beds before. Here is what he just did in the 86.

Nice!

That just solved a dilema for a friend of mine.
