The structure of the exterior walls is panelized. They use a vacuum press to make the panels and that can be quite strong, but I don't know how strong this trailer is.

I also don't know how the Earthbound would perform in a wind tunnel test compared to an Airstream. The Earthbound has a sloped front end and curved edges and may perform quite well.

I think the lesson is that people come along and come up with new designs. Some may be better than anything before. That's what Wally did. Airstream's design may be iconic, but so were flying buttresses. Can you imagine the Empire State Building with flying buttresses? Maybe the Earthbound tows better and is stronger—until someone tests them, we are guessing.

And yes, the floor can be a lot better.

Well, I think in the short term at least the Earthbound will be fine. I've been in touch with former Airstream owners who've switched to one and they are happy with the way it tows and pleased overall, but haven't had it a year yet.

I'm wondering what the exterior will look like in 10 or 20 years. We already know that a reasonably well-cared-for Airstream can look good for decades.

Choices, choices... more choice is good but makes decisions more difficult.

How will it look in 10 or 20 years? Good question. I not all that excited by the style, but most of the skin is clear coated aluminum, so that will hold up just like an Airstream.

I just saw the tanks are heated by resistance heating, not the furnace, so this unit isn't practical for boondocking when it goes below zero.

There's some real nice things about it, but I can't get past the orange cabinets and the lack of flexibility for boondocking.

THIS lisa is the crux of many things related to the once famous traylas...

since MOST newer buyers use them SO LITTLE,

many issues will NOT develop till well after the warranty is gone.

for folks that USE the NEW units a LOT, problems happen MUCH sooner.

the 66% thing a/s likes to promote really should be...

66% of all units ever built are in a BACK YARD somewhere...

rather than on the road.

cheers

On paper, it's two years.
Speaking first-hand, Airstream will stand behind defects in material and workmanship, beyond two years.
