I have an 86 Argosy with only a couple of issues(I think). The vin is 1ABJAJN28GJ200200. There are two soft spots in the floor, one at the door and one at the rear curbside corner near the bed. One day I will try to figure out how to fix those. My question is - what is the interior walls made of? It seems to be some kind of pressed material with a glued on covering. Might it be aluminum? I haven't dug into it yet, but it will ultimately need some work. Also, the blinds have been taken down and I need to know how the brackets mount to the wall so that I can get them back up and possibly start using it. I've had all of the appliances looked at and everything seems to work correctly. I am just as new to these coaches as anyone can be. My only saving grace is that I live off grid, so I have some experience with 12 volt pumps and wiring. I'm really looking forward to getting into this thing. I've been lurking here for quite a while and am always impressed with the amount of knowledge and camaraderie (sp?) Sorry for the long post.

Hi Oak; Your interior walls are aluminum with vinyl clad. Front and rear cap are plastic. Curtains are attached via special clips which slide in the tracks. Are the tracks in the trailer? Thanks, "Boatdoc"

Thanks for the reply. The curtains are fine, tracks and all. I should have been more specific - I'm wondering about the venetian blinds. Either way, I guess whatever bracket holds the blinds must screw into the aluminum interior skin?
Thanks for confirming the aluminum. What do I need to do to remove the "wallpaper"? It's some kind of funky woodgrain looking stuff that is wrinkled and just plain ugly.

Hey Oak; Do not even think to remove quote; "wallpaper" it is a vinyl clad which can be cleaned or painted but not removed. Venetian blind brackets should be riveted in with aluminum rivets. Because aluminum is very thin screws are not very good idea. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

Thanks for the heads up on the rivets. I've got more of them around than screws, but I'm also subject to brain fade.

Hi Oak, I also have an 86 Argosy and because of water damage, replaced walls in the bedroom and from the kitchen forward, as well as part of the ceiling and all 4 floor corners. Thanks to the previous owners poor maintenance

. The wall are constructed of a pressed fiber board covered with vinyl. This stuff does not do well if exposed to water! I used a plastic sheeting to replace the bad areas and painted to match orginal color. If you need to do any replacement work, be sure to keep the pieces you remore for patterns. I replaced the bad parts of the subfloor with treated plywood. But of course to get at the subfloor I had to rip out all the flooring and replace.

Thanks for confirming what I thought I saw. The "wallpaper" in my 29 footer is wrinkled and I had a hard time figuring out how an adhesive covering aluminum was able to wrinkle so much. But I thought that when I get some time to dig into it I will be able to identify it. Can you give me any info on what material you used and how were you able to bend it into the corners?
I guess I also will have to bite the bullet and remove and replace some of the floor and try to make this thing solid once again.

On my '78 some of the interior interior walls, that is the bulkheads, not the walls to the outside have wall paper. In some cases there's wood veneer under it. Unfortunately one of the places they used this was the shower

A lot of blinds I think were added by previous owners. I'm pretty sure that's the case with the roll up blinds in mine. On our "to do" list is rebuild the original curtains with day/night blinds as has been descirbed in other threads.

Thanks for the help. Now I'll have to search for the day/night blinds links, 'cause when I read your post I remembered reading about those blinds many moons ago and thinking that they sound pretty good. As you say - something else for the to-do list.

HI Oak, the panels I used in my '86 argosy were called Glasboard and I bought them at HD. The stuff comes in 4'x8' sheets. I found the material to be a little thinner then the orginal fiber board, but very bendable. Also it is paintable and waterproof. The channels that are associated with the product do a great job of hiding the rivets. Be sure and keep the orginal pieces you remove to use as patterns. Good luck.
