Silver Bullet, Secretary Gates' Airstream inair office

On TV tonight 5-15-2011 "60 Minutes". Did you know the Secretary of Defense's office in the air, inside of his aircraft, is in fact an an Airstream strapped down inside, he calls the Silver Bullet! How cool is that!

I think it's really cool. I was just watching on DVR and as soon as I saw it I came here to see if anyone was talking about it.

There were only a few seconds of shots of it, outside and in. It was clearly of Airstream construction, and also clearly highly customized as well.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more buzz here. I guess you had to have seen it.

This has come up before in other threads. It's been referred to as Cheney's, Laura Bush's, and Sec. Clinton's as well, I believe. I imagine it's probably a permanent mobile office that is used by whichever "higher up" happens to be on the aircraft at the time. It's probably a heckuva lot quieter in there, with the extra 2 aluminum skins and insulation.

I guess not too many Airstreams on Airforums watch 60 Minutes. I agree about the lack of BUZZZZ.

Interesting, because I had recorded it, but not seen it until last nite, so today I looked it up and here it is. as an aside and something that made me sad, yet impressed was Gate's honest emotional declaration of how he felt about the soldiers. The Soldier's Secretary, indeed. It was a good story. I am glad this country has such leaders. 'ol bill
