the woods

I am working on mine. Old English Dark Scratch Remover seems to be working well. The Middle Darkness might be better but I had the dark on hank and it seems o.k. I am following it very quickly with the Old English Lemon Oil in greasy abundance. It soaks in rather quickly. Given an hour or so I then take soft cloth and polish in circular motion. Looks good.
Have a one place needing glue for separating plywood which I will do soon and clamp overnight when it won't be in the way.
I think I would benefit greatly from use of a Service and/or Owner's Manual which I do not have. Do you know were I might find one?

Samo1,
We've had our 1970 31 Sovereign since 1995. We take it on regular trips and have only recently thought of doing some restore work. I'm thinking that the leaking copper tubing has PEX in it's future. I'm looking for pictures of original upper cabinets as ours were "updated" by PO to funky roll-tops that have failed.

Scott, you sure the tambour is an update? We looked at a 70 yesterday and it had all regular cabinets on bottom and the tambour on the top cabinets. I want to replace mine too, hate it!

I just bought a 1970 sovereign International. This unit had been sitting for the last 12 years. The upper cabinets are solid wood and in great condition they look original.

Be proud of your cabinetry.

I'm jealous. My wood work was the pits. I think that all they will be good for is patterns. Here are pics of what they looked like.

I am fairly certain the PO was not an interior decorator.

Have a 70 31" land yacht too! So roomy and lots of storage! Ours has those awful roll top things above that are either stuck or missing! What does anyone do to replace them. WE are trying to keep Shiny as original as possible so I am thinking just hanging curtains on tension rods. The wood by the twin beds was painted and I scraped and sanded most of it off. There is a hint of white paint left in the grain givng it that DISTRESSED look. Next to tackle the bathroom, anyone ever paint the tub or vanity? Would love to show off Shiny, but we aren't quite there yet

Have a 1976 Sovereign that has needed very little work. Except for the PINK curtains, we have enjoyed having all the room this unit provides. Didn't do anything with the wood or the tambour doors since the PO had kept this trailer in "like new" condition.

Not so far, the cabinet boxes were a little narrow to mount the hinges so I added 1x2 to pad them a bit.

Each to their own, I happen love my early 70's interior and tambour roll up doors! Airstream interiors went to hell in the 80's with awful cabinetry. It's all dated in the scheme of things !
