Sink Drain Leaks
Hello,
I am looking for some information about taking apart the drain plumbing under the sink. This is the first of many repairs I will be making, but as I have only had the trailer for a couple of weeks, this is unfamiliar territory for me. The only union joint under the sink that I can see is at the exit of the p-trap. I have to believe that there is another union joint somewhere or else the sink was manufactured in place and doesn’t come out without cutting the drain. I suspect that it is at the drain cups where the drain connects to the bottom of the sink, but as most of the drain is covered with duct tape and silicone sealant, I can’t tell right now. Any help would be appreciated.
A little background on the trailer. My wife and I recently purchased twenty acres of woods out in the country. Along with the land, we got an Airstream trailer that has been used as a hunting cabin. Judging from the dirt and dead bugs in the drains, the condition of the fridge, and the condition of the water and propane lines, it has not been used for several years. However, since we were able to get good title to the trailer, the trailer is in good condition, and we were fortunate enough to get many of the extras (the trailer came with an owners manual, all the towing equipment, the propane bottles are original), we have put on new tires and hauled the trailer up to the house to see about making it serviceable. The first project was to flush out all the drains and put in antifreeze. Next is to fix the leak under the sink and fix the leak in the dump valve. Then on to the water lines.
Hope you all will put up with my ton of questions.
Thanks,
Ray
