Would you or wouldn't you?

If you happened to be driving by private property and saw an Airstream trailer in the yard next to the house on a well groomed lot, would you or wouldn't you trespass to check it out? I'm not talking about first walking to the door of the house and knocking to see if anyone was home and then leaving if no one was home. I'm talking about walking straight onto the property and into the Airstream (if it was unlocked).

I think I might venture a peek on the outside if the trailer looked abandoned on a piece of property with no dwellings in sight and no "no trespassing" signs but I would never walk onto someone's property with an obviously lived in house on it and then proceed to enter the trailer.

Well it happened to me. My neighbor, who happened to witness the event, called me at work to tell me that someone drove into my yard and walked into one of my Airstream trailers. It was the '61 Ambassador which doesn't have a doorknob or lock on it. My neighbor immediately confronted the guy who was inside the trailer mumbling something about if it was for sale and if it was being restored. My neighbor didn't answer any of his questions and just asked the guy to get out of the trailer and off the property.

That's a nice neighbor you have there.

I wouldn't do it, that's for sure. If it were on the side of the road with a For Sale sign, then sure. But on someone's clearly-inhabited property? Nope.

I've even stayed "out and away" from clearly abandoned trailers. If it's not mine, I'm not going to mess with it. I even stay out of stuff with a "for sale" sign on it, unless the door is open, and it's very obviously intended to be looked at inside.

Hi,

I would not approach anyone's property without permission. I might walk to the front doot, knock and if no one home i might leave a note, but never mess with some one else's belongings.

I guess some parents never taught their children manners.

We live out in the middle of nowhere and the nearest "town" is about a mile away. The "town" has one vagrant / homeless person and every once and a while we will see him walking out in our neck of the woods with his girlfriend, yes he has a girlfriend! We always joke that we are going to come home one night or weekend to find him set up in one of our Airstreams. I guess I better start locking them if I don't want a squatter on our hands.

Lynn and I were visiting my late brother's wife and my niece yesterday. She lives comfortably on 2 1/2 acres. At the rear of her property there are some vintage cars that a neighbor is storing with her ok. She just returned from a few weeks recovering from surgery and was directing her handy-man to do some field mowing a day or so ago. After a short time he told her that he surprised a stranger walking back towards the cars. The stranger was asked to leave. His excuse was that he was interested in the cars. As the handy-man's mowing progressed towards the old cars he discovered several pot plants growing there and a length of garden hose that had been missing from the front yard..........

Trespassing is trespassing no matter the excuse, the attempts at an excuse or simply blabbering an excuse! I like the "buckshot" response above! Great neighbor you've got there - that kind of activity is usually the predecessor to your asking "what happened to the _____?" Things come up missing (stolen, etc...) I would never think of doing it and if he/she continues doing it, he/she will likely be arrested, accosted or shot.

I concur with LJH . I AINT GETTIN NO BUCK SHOT IN MY BUTT Thank YOU!
U have a great neighbor there. We should all lookout for each other and each others property. Reminded me I was actually harrassed by some guy who stopped on the street and howlerd "HEY WHAT YA GONNA DO WIFF THAT OLD TRAILER" I said go campin, and he just wouldn't go away. He finally said "What will ya take fer It,I wanna set it on a lake." SO I said I''ll take 20k as is.hehe/He finally drove away mumblin sumpin.
Some people just don't have any common sense or any regard for other pples property.

Freshair, tell that guy to leave my plants alone... no seriously, leave them alone. Some of those pot growers protect their stuff using guns, be careful.

I often stop and knock. I leave a note on my card if they are not home asking them to call me. They never do and I usually return to knock again and leave a second note. I will walk around a trailer, look in the window, but never open anything or touch. Last time a neighbor came over and talked to me. He said" you lookin to buy that airstream? I sure would like to see it gone..."

Niel- I have weapons to loan you, but you may get in trouble if law enforcement catches you!!For some reason they don't approve of what I own, why should the pot growers have better firepower than me or the police.

Hey 62; I hope your card reads like Paladins.

And this happened in Mass?? what the is going on in this world anyway?
Good neighbors are indeed a blessing.
People that know me never sneak up on me!
