I took a picture of this one at the San Marcas, Texas monster Outlet Mall. Pretty neat.

Here's my favorite doughnut .... and Airstream! If you're ever in Seattle, you have to try their doughnuts! Very cake like, rather than sugary sweet.

Yeppers. The Tanger Outlet Mall in San Marcos has had this here for awhile. RichHog saw it while shopping Black Friday deals there at our Thanksgiving Rally. There is also the "Hey Cupcake" Airstream that is there a lot.

Ohh myy ... our dear misdirected Kevin!!!! Start a state or two to your southwest (Mississippi) and head towards Arkansas & Texas. Search out Shipley's Donuts -- the original! I grew up on these and look how I turned out.

With love and a large following, Krispy Kreme aficionados deserve kudos for keeping fresh local cooking alive.

When I was in college at Louisiana Tech in the mid-60's, there was a Shipley's across from the campus. Their chocolate dough glazed are simply unbelievable. No telling how many dozen I ate cramming 4 years into 5.

Just bought a box of Shipley's mixed flavor donuts this am. I was enroute to the consignment lot that sold my 2003 Classic, and he thinks I'm mad at him or his staff if I don't bring some of Shipley's best. And yes Kevin, they have been sugary sweet for over 65 years, like donuts are supposed to be. For me, a treat to enjoy, but only in moderation :-) .

65 years? The boys at Krispy Kreme have been going at it since 1937. Seems that you and Bob might be a bit... shall we say dietetically challenged.

Truth be told, I know of many local bakeries that flat out make some of the best doughnuts, and of course the best ones are free. Not being one to argue though... I will gladly sample any Shipley freebies either of you two might care to send my way.

I make this offer solely for the purpose of avoiding any food wars of course.

Mmmm, Shipley's.

Double threat for me. Nearest doughnut shop to where I live. Pass them on the way to work every day. Then, there's another Shipley's across the street from the building I work in.

The police here have developed a certain sensitivity to the topic of doughnuts and they've all switched to breakfast tacos.

Round Rock doughnuts are the best in this part of the country though I have fond memories of Shipley doughnuts from my youth.

There's also a number of restored and highly polished Airstreams parked around the area that sell really good and expensive cupcakes and the concept of trailer fast food has taken off here.

I saw this one in Bakersfield this summer. Not an Airstream, but cool nonetheless.
