I wouldn't argue with you on this point. Being a self proclaimed expert myself, with no education or experience to back it up, I can confidently say every post I've graced these forums with has been of the utmost importance and unequivocally the last word on whichever topic I offered my opinion. Thank you for acknowledging the value of my opinions by the kind compliment you wrote above.

I think we should keep The Argue Thread pure and unsullied.

Pitting "experts" and "self proclaimed experts" against each other is just a poorly disguised effort to take the thread into uncharted and unexplored territory. We decline your effort to derail this thread.

You may know it all. But I know everything else.

Take THAT!

People who admit their lack of knowledge are entitled to all the knowledge nand insights our experts can provide, whether it’s right or not! As the old question goes: Are you better off with two people who don’t know what they're doing, or only one?

I disagree. This is a serious argument and there is no place for serious arguments on the argue thread. Knock it off!

The AirForums— and indeed any public forum— are predicated on the idea that all of us are smarter than each of us.

Which is true to the extent that each of us posts questions that all of us eventually can answer, given enough iterations, false starts, and tangents.

But to weigh in on the question at hand, real experts don't argue against each other. They argue against each other's informed opinions. It's only the self-proclaimed experts who make it personal because they don't have informed opinions, only uninformed opinions.

Meaning no offense against any self-proclaimed "self-proclaimed expert." Even a real expert may modestly identify himself as a "self-proclaimed expert" to avoid seeming pretentious.

Protagonist, your retort makes entirely too much sense. I offer this for your and other intellectual disagreers edification. I pose the question which argumentative style presented in the following video do you most identify with?

It seems obvious well educated intellectuals are trying to confuse this thread with sensible and rational statements when all that is needed is to be stupid and disagreeable, i.e, like the comments section of any internet news site.

I am very well educated and do know everything, but as a man of the people, I prefer to be stupid and disagreeable. It is possible my graduate degrees had a expiration date on them (not only do I know everything, but I am modest). I find as I age, it is easier to be both stupid and disagreeable and I am glad seniors get some slack on being jerks. Certainly ad hominem attacks are a good part of this (an example, Pro is an engineer, a per se indictment of something). Also blaming misspellings on spell checker is the mark of a demented senior.

I may also add, space aliens landed in my neighborhood recently and if you don't believe that, your muffler bearings are broken and you need to take your truck to a garage immediately. To conclude, I am not crazy and you are. So there!

This is such good therapy. After all Medicare does not pay much for therapy and the Forum is a wonderful place to confess our greatness. I wish the Forum would allow me to thank myself since I must need it.
