Stealth mode

Why does it exist on these forums and taking into account that it does, why is it not available to all members? Apparently it has nothing to do with whether or not you are a contributing member.

Some people like others to not be able to see where they are, and what they are doing. "invisible mode" allows this, and it is available to "premium" members only.

stealth?

interesting idea!

actually it is tied to contrib status (or was) now...

and it was once available to all members....

but as everyone vanished, the "who's online" box looked very odd.

i could give ya 10 really good reasons for using it.

but instead offer this...

1. it is like being in the 5th dimension
2. in an alternate universe
3. at another place and time...
4. where everybody knows your name
5. and used like the 'ignore feature'
6. only upside down and inside out.
7. with the invisible man...
8. 8 miles high, or above the stratosphere...
9. while in a rabbit hole and through the looking glass,
10. or wearing rubber gloves to handle the andromeda strain...

with this bonus koan offered as a vanishing thought...

when fully visible what deeper things are hidden ?
while IN stealth mode is the true one seen ?

this has been a public service announcement...

but search some, because there are other threads on this blocker-beam issue...

cheers

Could you give me the definition of a "premium member"?

ps-I tried searching for threads on stealth mode or invisible mode but came up empty.I'm sure 2air could provide some.

pps-I also tried searching for premium member or premium membership but came up empty.

Maybe a premium membership gives one a better forum search function

What you are calling a "premium member" is actually a "contributing member" which is a person who "donates" some cash to the cause. It has some additional perks - invisable mode is one of them, more storage space is another and larger photos is one I like.

Back in the day - when all was free here - all the members were equal under the eyes of the Pubah - times have changed. As always with things - some for the good - some for the bad.

Karma to ya......

You can find info about supporting memberships here http://www.airforums.com/forums/f318...sed-42706.html

Supporting member have a LOT more attachment storage space, larger PM boxes, can use 'invisible mode" and get a cool sticker or two.

The less that excellent search function is the same for everyone...

Thank you all for the clarification. In my original post I had mentioned the contributing member designation and in Terry's response the premium member status was thrown in.Now I see that they are both the same.

I became a contributing member because I felt it was the least I could do to help support this great forum...and it doesn't break the bank. And the additional picture storage space alone is worth it! Check it out!

To be technical, the correct term is "supporting member". We tried "contributing member", but several folks pointed out that if yo post, you contribute.

I stand corrected. It makes sense that "supporting members"would get some perks. Thanks for your help.

Hmmm... is this anything like what happens when Horton Hears a Who?

"My friends!", cried the elephant.
"Tell me! Do tell!
Are you safe? Are you sound?
Are you whole? Are you well?"

Good un cheers!

Odd thing was we've had a mod who liked to operate in stealth. Kinda defeated the purpose...

perhaps this is true...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/546415-post159.html

and post 15-16 here...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...tml#post348147

and 5,6, 11-18 or so here....

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...tml#post365594

and a half dozen posts here...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...rty-11155.html

hey, i LIKE the 'premium label' that is MUCHO better than contributing OR supporting as a moniker...

premium beer cost more right and taste great but is less filling?
premium 'streams cost more but corrode at the same rate 2!
premium t.p. is soooofter, smoooother and smells nice,
premium forum status is ALL of those things and more...

but for some the larger question is...

are all the threads about stealth mode and bein' invisible, visible?

cheers

Mother Who: Is Horton an elephant?

Baby Who 1: No, ma'am, Horton's a pickle.

Baby Who 2: What's a Horton?
