Lightbulb Stealth Loads

The furnace is off, the lights are off and the water pump is off. You think nothing's draining the battery. We all know the propane detector, clocks and the memory settings on the radio all consume a minute amount of power, but these loads will add up over a long boondock or storage. While preparing to leave for the weekend, the refer was switched to gas and shore power disconnected. While loading the freezer, I noticed a small rocker switch behind the freezer door under the fridge control panel. It was for climate control, similar to the switch in the home fridge that says to turn on if moisture appears on the outside. Turns on a heating element on the cabinet edges where the doors seal. I turned the switch off and noted the digital dc voltmeter went up by 1/10th of a volt. Need to remember this next time battery conservation is required.

Don't forget the 12volt control panel on the fridge. I know for a fact the LP dectector will totally drain a battery in less than a month
