We're about .20 below Silvertwinkie for gas, and a buck lower on diesel.

Dang Silvertwinkie! That diesel price is outrageous. We filled up the Beetle TDI with B99 for $2.64 a gallon (includes $.99 soy fuel rebate) on Saturday. That hasn't changed for months. Petro diesel was $2.76 at Loves on I-10 this morning. Down $.03 from Monday.

Exclamation Fuel Price Watch

Its Started Folks.
There were no gas stations between here and Portsmouth yesterday with no gas to sell, according to the individual station operators.
Just like the other two times in my memory, the only reason there is this crunch is the unchecked greed on the part of your countrymen.
Its a shame that we, the American People, don't have representation in Washington DC watching out for our interests like the oil cartels.
The only reason we ran out of gas last night was because of our reluctance to allow off shore exploration. I seem to remember wells being capped right and left in the 1970's to create that shortage which was only to raise prices.
Its timewe started recalling senators and representatives and even a oil state President for failing to look out for our interests.

Don't forget the news in the coming months about how such huge corporate profits are a necessary part of summer driving volume. While we all pay through the nose, airlines go in the tank, jobs are lost. I hope this goes the way of how good RJReynolds was to stockholders until people wised up.

....and the prices I posted yesterday were from the lowest priced stations in the area near me. The prices go up even more if you go into the city or deep into the north shore (closer to the lake, north of the city).

Plain and simple, it's an outrage. I know the folks in Eurpoe pay over $5/gal (approx), but that's of little comfort.......

You aint seen nothin yet!

If you invest in energy then you would be aware of the futures market for gasoline. It has taken off because of Congress. Our elected representatives decided in their wisdom to outlaw MTBE, which by volumne was about 15% of summer blend gasoline and replace it with ethanol. Of course we only make about 2/3rds or less of the required ethanol so we will be at the mercy of the Brazilians, as well as OPEC this summer. Refineries are currently switching to summer blend and have been off line for a longer than normal period. As of yesterday gasoline stocks were about 5% below where they were a year ago. Ethanol can't be shipped in pipelines so parts of the country that use pipelines for gasoline delivery are in crisis. The plan is to add storage tanks and blend in the ethanol then use trucks for delivery. IF they can get the stuff built and find enough tanker trucks and drivers.

Since Congress has acted to get on the politically correct side of this we can all count on a heavy dose of the law of unintended consequences this summer.

If the gas companies weren't holding out for exemption from having to clean up all the MTBE contaminated aquifers, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

MTBE is a carcinogen. California outlawed it a couple of years ago. Ethanol won't kill you unless you drink to much of it. Try drinking a glass of MTBE.

The gas companies knew this was coming in 2000. They just want to whine and fuss about it, jack up the prices, and get legal protection from all their past sins.

It's not Congress, it's Korporate Amerika.

hello! it was ground water contamination by MTBE

If the MTBE wasn't leaking from underground tanks that needed to be cleaned up then no one would need to be PC. I personally believe that you still need to be reponsible for the messes you make.

Wink Oil-Aid

One of the morning DJ's here was musing about the poor oil companies, what with record profits and all last year.
You know Wall Street will expect them to increase their profits over last year and if they don't then the stock price will tumble. Oh Woe. Then they will be looking for a bail-out from Congress.
He then proposed setting to work to line up some big name Rock Stars and having a huge benefit concert. We'll call it "Oil -Aid".
You know. Anything we can due to help out the needy.
