Can you identify this key?

I recently received a wonderful '92 Excella 29' from a dear friend. Her husband passed 5 years ago and the trailer has been in storage for the past 10 years. He was a very detailed individual and left explicit instructions as to how to care for the TT. On the key ring with the usual important keys (door key, access hatch key, battery box key, water fill key, and the all important hitch lock key and allen key) there was this interesting one. I have yet to find a use for it, though it is still on the ring as it should be. The markings on it says WELLS. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. I love a good problem to solve.

Well, that wouldn't open anything on our '99 Excella, but it sure is interesting. I hope there's some VET here on the forums who will know what it is. Could be a golfing item, you know.

The tip looks about right to jump "a" to "b" on old OBD1 cars to read trouble codes stored in the system. But I've never seen one like it and have no clue what the tab and stuff on the side would be for. Googles Wells and didn't come up with anything meaningful.

Just googled divot tools. Although the new ones are different from the one you picture above I would have to say that it is likely a golf divot tool. Check with the wife you got the trailer from as to if the hubby was a "duffer" and I think you will have the mystery solved. Ed

Since you are just asking for comments, it would appear to be too simple for a lockbox key at a Wells Fargo bank - wouldn't it ? Our keys for lockboxes are more detailed than this. And why would it be on with trailer keys, unless PO went to get money right before leaving on trips ??

Yes he was a golfer, but the forks on then end are only 1/8 inch wide. Most divot tools are at least 3/4 inch. Being a wood turner myself it looks like a tool that you would use to check standard dimensions. Similar to a tool used to check pex crimps. The tab on the side is exactly 1/4 inch and the space 14/32.

I think you stick that in a cake that you just made to see if it's done before you take it out of the oven. If the cake sticks to the device then leave the cake in for a few more minutes.
It could also double as a toothpick you can attach to your key ring.
Personally, I'd use it to break the inner seal on ketchup bottles.
