Airstream Advertisement Pop-up Won't Go Away

Sometimes when I come over to Air Forums, within seconds an Airstream pop-up ad comes into view with a grey mask over the rest of the screen. I can't get the ad to go away as there is no X or "Close" text box/radio button on the ad. This is very irritating!

Try hitting the escape (esc) key on your computer keyboard.

This generally happens when I'm on my laptop or it's been a while since I've logged on to Air Forums on my desktop. It never happens when I am automatically logged on with user ID & Password. Regardless, my point is the same... it's irritating and needs to be fixed.

Imagine that you're a newbie and are visiting Air Forums for the first time and you're blocked from viewing the forum by some mindless ad that you can't make go away!

Respectfully,

Steve

For those of you having trouble with this we've added an option to disable this entirely via your profile settings.

Look for the last item under edit options http://www.airforums.com/forums/prof...do=editoptions and the hit save at the bottom.

Here is a work around. Believe me I don't like this thing either!

hmm, for whatever reason, the link fails, could you try that again, please?

or, just say the control panel option to set?

thanks!

Try this link http://www.airforums.com/forums/prof...do=editoptions

Otherwise go to User CP from the blue bar above, then on the left column, go down to Settings and Options/Edit Options then all the way down at the bottom under Miscellaneous Options is one called Airstream Daily Popup Toggle, check off and you should be good to go. I don't know if this works with the apps or not, but it does work in all browsers I have tried.

Thank you one and all. I don't mean to complain too much, but it certainly appears that I've struck a nerve!

I'm glad that there's a work around and that will hopefully work for those of us who've read this thread. My greater concern is that this advertisement will be off-putting to newcomers and upsetting for members who have not read and fixed their preferences. If there's going to be a popup like this it needs to show for eight to ten seconds and go away. Alternate, there could be a CLOSE "radio button".

All my best,

Steve

I found this pop-up to be most annoying on Android devices. I have 3 different ones that the pop-up just won't go away on. It doesn't pop up repeatedly on my windows or chromebook machines.

will try the work-around..
