Maggie,

Wow. You hardly had time to unpack before you're packing again? Guess you have places to go and people to see. Good travels, good lady.

I do have people to see, that is true. The places to go are just on the way.

There is a benefit to not having to even turn the frig off, just plug in at home for a few days. Do up the laundry and get it back in, re-stock a bit, and you're ready to go.

In Shawnee National Forest in very southern Illinois last night. Beautiful and cool here.

Nice campground, with nice showers. We had a very long day yesterday...or, so it seemed, for I who is unaccustomed to doing all the driving ....was good to get parked, fix a little supper and get the Sunday papers read. Lily got a good run, too, in an empty area of this campground.

As "concessionaires" have been given so many of the federal campgrounds, I notice that they seem to take their share out of the middle. 50% off with the Golden Age Passport is only 25% at these sites. A bit annoying. There's a benefit somewhere, hopefully, other than fewer federal employees, but I can't see it. Found one of these in RMNP last year, I believe, that wanted $10 from campers to dump.

I love getting out of the flatland of Central Illinois and into the rolling, grassy, forrested hills of southern Illinois. So beautiful.

Are going to go thru a bit of Kentucky and directly into Tennessee today. Pondering stopping at the archives in Nashville to see what I can find on my Eastern TN ancestors......they were there before they built the flatboats in 1806 that took them to Mississippi.

I will likely take some pictures, but with the IPad they still post upside down here, don't they?

We are doing well. Setting out on the longest trip, in distance and in days, since Doug's death. I like to think he will spend some time with us.

Propane is on red.....first order of business this am.

Maggie, it is a hassle, but you could copy pics to a different album and flip them over then post...?

It would be easier for us than standing on our heads to see what you see...

It is that how I would do it???

I could also try the "take picture" option, for posting, which I have never done. (Still upside down)

It really is like having y'all along with me....you just can't see.

Shawnee National Forest

Still upside down, this one saved upside down into a "to post folder".

If you have suggestions for what and how, I will try it.

I only have the IPad with me, no camera.

Maggie, I know you don't know us, but if you ever come through north Florida, and want a WAY out of the way place to plug in for a bit and just unwind, your welcome to come to our place. We're out in the sticks of N Fl, and I have a thirty amp drop in the yard... Or if you'd rather boondock, we have plenty of property where you'll never see another soul, only deer, quite a few turkeys, and the odd raccoon. Just an offer if you're down this way. You're in my prayers. Enjoy those grands...

That's very sweet of you, and thank you so much.

Won't be that far south this trip, but maybe another time.

cwf tells me he has the picture thing fixed, so I am expecting he is going to post it.

Headed toward west of Nashville for later today, a corps spot which might do for a night or two. Need to pick up a wayward prescription in the Nashville area.

Found propane and scrubbed the Interstate this am.

Wild.

Thanks, Channing.

We are settled into the prettiest little COE campground, on a small river that feeds into the Cumberland. Harpeth River Bridge is the name.

CampWhere said there were no facilities here, and no reservations, but they have water, electricity, a bathhouse, concrete pads, and a dump station.

No TV signal, but that's okay.

It is lovely. A loop, so all sites back up to water. We are going to stay here at least a couple of days, maybe thru the weekend.

Oh, and with the Golden Age Passport.....$6 a night. Can't beat that.

We will crochet, bike, walk, read, and repeat.

Come join us!

I think we're going to stay thru the weekend, because why not? Lily will be very happy to not be moving for a few days.

There are a half dozen or so sites free right now, but it is a no-reservation campground.

And, there is TV with antennae....all the major channels. I had the antennae turned off.
