Just came across this pic of a VW one off on another forum. No details, but interesting possibly aluminum skin.

Hope it got a boost in power!

Thanks on the retirement wishes, now the real work starts
To avoid repeating myself I put a reply for both threads here: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f310...ml#post1844416

Thanks for posting the Decoliner Bob!
It's created by Randy Grubb, truly a master craftsman with aluminum, as well as an artistic designer.

A perfect subject for the Aluminuaholics.

Google around, he has created a wide range of amazing vehicles.

Cheers Richard

Oops, I didn't realize that your post included a link to Randy Grubb, Bob , good one.

I could see one of his sleek scooters as a nice companion to a polished airstream.

Cheers Richard

Here is yet another of the VW conversion. This one does look nice, but I continue to wonder about the engine power to push it around.

If I sound like a former microbus owner it is for a good reason.

I've shared this sweet one elsewhere, but it's certainly worth another look.

Looks like the 1948 Flxible in the movie RV. I had heard that Jeff Daniels owned it but on IMDB it just says he arrived on set in his own RV and they cancelled the driving lessons. There's a museum that says they have the bus.

Guess I should have added rediculous to the title.
But you gotta love the sky deck and umbrella.
Actually a pretty good rig for going to the races.
Once you get some jacks under the back, so you don't roll the thing over.

What is this?

I have seen a lot of pics of rare Airstreams but, I have never seen one of these. Any body know the history of this?

I don't know if the owners of this motorhome participate in Air Forums so I'll tell you the little I know. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

This is a one-off product. I think it's on an early 2000's Ford E450 chassis with the V-10 engine. The (now) owners saw it on the production line when it was being made and immediately made plans to purchase the prototype. Airstream made some modifications for the owners to tailor it to their needs. I think it has one slide on the drivers side.

Airstream representatives recently alluded to an upcoming new motorhome that will be suitable for long-term travel - presumably something larger than the current 24 foot Interstates. Perhaps the motorhome seen in these pictures you posted is a hint of things to come.
