Tag Axle mount cracks

I found two identical cracks on the rear portion of the tag axle mounts.
It seemed they they had been there for some time, maybe caused by improper towing. Worried me enough to have a friend weld it for me today.
If your Rig as a tag axle, you may want to get the flashlight out and take a closer look.
I know, one more thing to worry about...

Peter.

Thanks for the warning for other tag axle motorhome owners.

There is but "one" new tag axle available, for the Chevy chassis, which we have.

No one wants to build them anymore.

The tag axle, should receive the same amount of service, that the trailer torsion axle receives.

Regular bearing service and grease seal replacments are a must, every 10,000 miles. If not, the owner may be looking for a tag axle replacement.

Andy

Just FYI.

The tag axle assembly is still available from the 345 that I am parting out. The only items I know to be missing are the leveling valves and the air tank. The rest of the axle including brake drums is still intact.

Which explains why we mainly only have the larger components still available from the 345
