MOHO EMERGENCY. 3 wheels on my wagon...
Hello America,
I have a friend on holiday in Spain who has suffered a blow out on his 30ft MOHO. Consequently, he is on 3 wheels only on his back axle with a six day wait for a new tyre. How safe is it to continue on 3 wheels until he can replace?

The single tire will be seriously overloaded and very unsafe.

Did he ask the tire store if he could pay for priority shipping?

Hi Guys and many thanks for your responses. Getting the right tyre to US standards can be very difficult over here in metric Europe. However, your advice will keep my buddy out of trouble til the cavalry arrives. Many, many thanks! Marc

Other than driving a short distance to get off the road to a safe parking place I wouldn't drive any more than that.
As mentioned the one tire will be seriously overloaded and the consequences could be deadly if it blew while driving at speed.

The owners manual on my '77 AS says you can drive very slowly for short distances on three wheels, and only in emergencies.
Tell your friend to shelter in place 'til his tire is replaced.
Q: Why doesn't he have a spare??

I had to drive 30 freeway miles on a flat inner tire and I slowed to 50 mph and was shaking with nerves the whole way. (no mountain roads either - I wouldn't even attempt that for more than a mile or two.)

Single tire load rated 3525 pounds
Duels load rated at 3305 pounds per tire.
The Silver Bullet scales at 16234 pounds empty, guessing 5000 on the front, 2000 on the tag that leaves 9234 for the drive wheels, divide by 2 puts 4617 on each side. not too badly overloaded it the surviving tire is in good shape and wasn't trying to beat the land speed record it would be doable if everyone leaned to the two tire side.
Just back from a month is Europe. Noticed they like their RV's there. Didn't see any motor homes with duels. Saw some with tandem rear wheel. I didn't see any travel trailers with tandem axles. Must have better tires/wheels then we get.

Hi Marc,
It's probably a non-starter, but suggest you check the following:
What tyres have they got on there? If they are load range E 121/120s, then maybe they can limp on for a bit:
Where is the spare?
You should be able to get tyres delivered more quickly. Can you find out the current set up? 7.50 R16s? 215/85s? If they are waiting for 7.50 R16s, then there are other options.
Here are some options for suppliers:
https://www.123pneus.fr
http://www.gtradial.fr/gtradial/fr/t...n000110&flag=3
http://www.pneus-online.fr/pneu-auto-215-85-16.html
even Amazon....depends if they have the R16 or 19.5......either way, you should be able to do a lot better than six days.
You can post here, or PM me, or ask them to PM me and I can see if I can rustle up any options.
allbest
Nick

Marc, They should be able to switch to metric. You don't need to stay with the 7.50 stock tyres. 215/85s on the rears work fine - I use these on mine. 235s are sometimes used, but you need to be really careful that you have clearance and they don't kiss. If they think the 235s can work, then keep them inflated. You cannot mix and match....maybe better to move metric if they have the funds
