'93 ly moho secret

In researching other forums tonight I found something that my rv tech proved to me recently. i have a 93 land yacht moho. i had a step problem and in the process of solving it he told me something i think is important. when you are plugged up to shore power always switch on the aux batt switch on the dashboard. it allows the house batteries to charge fully while parked regardless of the converter, inverter or isolator. i never turn them off now unless i am on the road. and even then when i park it they are turned on immediately. try it. you'll like it.

Nice idea, but far from ideal. You are charging 2 dis-similar battery banks with a converter or inverter/charger designed to properly charge a house deep cycle battery bank.

The better way to accomplish this is to install a nifty little device from Magnum Energy called the Smart Battery Combiner. This little gizmo reads the voltages on both banks and will draw from the main bank when the auxiliary bank needs charging. You can find the details here:ME-SBC Smart Battery Combiner

Mine is a momentary switch and only connects house to start battery for emergency starting when start battery is dead.
From experience I know the start battery isn't connected to the charger even when plugged in, with a load on it, it will discharge completely. ;-(
