General heights of vintage units?
Are there any significant differences in interior height among the pre-'69 models? I guess, more specifically, which of the older models gives you the most height inside at the center? Most models look to me to be no more than 6.5 feet from floor to ceiling.
I'm keeping the '62 Bambi regardless but my 6'7" boyfriend wants to make sure that there's nothing taller than the '61 Overlander out there--BEFORE i start rehabbing it.

I don't believe the interior height changed beween '62 and '69. If it did it could not be more than an inch or so. The most recent models claim 6'3", but that is below the a/c, so ceiling height must be about 6'6".

so there's NOTHING...
that got built with extra-tall interiors? no obsolete silver streak, no NOTHING?! six-foot-seven guy is wondering whether, in that case, height could be added around the bottom somehow.

As far as adding height, you'd want to talk to Inland Andy about that. I remember reading an article (probably on his site, here's a picture) about him adding height to director Tim Burton's '36 Airstream. From the picture, looks like everything under the waistline was replaced with new metal, though I'd think if it were much more than 4 or 5 inches, it'd start looking strange... out of proportion.

Summerkid...
I'm 6'5" tall and I can relate to your boyfriend's dilemma. I typically have to 'try cars on for size' before I drive one. I'm sure he has to do the same.
I've been in LOTS of airstreams, from 1947s to new. My '94 and the '61 Bambi (presumably all of the 7 panel fronts were similar in height) had the best interior height. The '63 Flying Cloud I have at work has good overhead clearance. The '57 Overlander was a bit shorter. I think that the Classic motorhomes have the most headroom clearance, but it's not a significant amount, and none of them vary more than a couple of inches over the years from shortest to tallest. I don't stand in the trailer that much anyway. The problem I've found isn't so much the height of the trailer (except when showering, cooking, or doing dishes) but the length of the beds. We replaced our RV queen with a full queen with a little modification. THAT makes a big difference in comfort.

Great! Makes my job easy! I'll just lay some really thin linoleum, paint the interior & toss in the biggest mattress they make. We might get some quizzical looks at rallies but at least freak man will be comfortable.

ROLLING ! that's funny!
My wife and I look like the Herman and Lilly Munster. I'm 6'1" and she's 5'1". Herman looks better though.
