1959 Mystery Model

Found a cool "1959 Land Yacht" for sale but cannot find a match for it in the Airstream Specs. It is 22 feet, single axle and appears to have a transverse gaucho and longitudinal couch up front, linear kitchen on street side with fridge and wardrobe storage opposite on curb side, and a large bathroom in the back with center sink, street side toilet and curb side shower. Anyone know what model this might be?

You may have located one of the very rare special series made at that time. It was called something like the Starlight or some Space race related name which I cannot remember now. I had one and had the same issue in identification you are having but last year at the Rocky Mountain Vintage Rally Fred Caldwell told me what it was. He may have even written it up in the VAC newsletter.

So, unless someone else here can remember what I am talking about, contact Fred and he will know.

I am sorry, I don't have Fred's contact information. Help someone.....

Nope. Three windows on street side, couch on street side, fridge on curb side. Bath might be similar though.

Ah, ok, it is not the special run that I had in mind then. Mine was very unusual in floor plan, and fit the information Fred C had on them.

Unfortunately, after I sold mine it was totally renovated and then T boned at an intersection for a total loss. One less rare Airstream.

just you and me talking on this one, I'm afraid.

I got looking at photos of a '59 that I helped a friend sell and that one was an unknown also but the VIN number was 26TO218 and it was made in the Firestone Blvd plant in Santa Fe Springs CA in 5/59.

So, close to your production number but a 26' not a 22'

It's not a regular old California '59 FC?
