Sticking windows

Our new 2009 Flying Cloud has several windows which refuse to open. We know how to operate the lock/unlock mechanisms. The issue is that the window panes got stuck to their black rubber gaskets between manufacture and date of sale. Dealer says stick a butter knife in there to free the panes; we don't think so much of that idea, for fear of wrecking our new gaskets. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank you very much,

arlodavy

A little gentle hair dryer from the outside (and some time to allow the heat to penatrate the window) and you should be albe to push on the window from the inside while your partner helps in getting a finger underneath it from the outside. After the window is loose, spray the gasket and the window with Rainex and it should be easy the next time.

a plastic knife under both sides with a little pressure works fine for me. some silicone sprayed on a rag and then applied to the gaskets should stop that problem.

Had the same problem with mine and I gently levered them from outside with a popsicle stick.

Someone suggested to me to use something called Aerospace Protectant 303 on teh rubber to prevent this - I think it isd available from Jackson centre, but also many marine stores carry it.

I bought some, but have not had chance to try it yet - it is an UV protectant and looks to me a lot like Armorall.

I also added a suction cup with vacuum release to my trailer toolbox so that if the windows should stick again, I will try that to pull on the glass from outside rather than prying the glass and rink breaking it.
