referrals?
Hello,
My qeustion is "what are refferals?" I have been issued one and do not understand why. Is this a bad thing or a good thing? I did not mean to do anything to get into trouble. When veiwing a profile you can see the referals under your info.
Any information on this topic would be appreciated.

I didn't even know that was there. I have no idea what it means. I am now curious to know, also.

You receive credit for referrals by links set up on other websites.

The credit you receive is one point for every referral. I do know there was a contest for having the most referrals back when the forums was a new website. Nothing happens with these points now as far as I know other than they show up on your public profile page.
A referral link is a link to the forum which you set-up from another website. To get credit for the referral, you will need to embed your forum id into the url so when someone follows the link, the airforums will know which forum end user created the link.
Here is a sample of what mine looks like ...
http://www.airforums.com/forums/?referrerid=1084

Actually...that's pretty close Yuki.
A referral is obtained when a new member signs up from a link on your website. Not just for having the link...
The credit you receive is just a number...no "goodies" or rewards, at this time - sorry ~
Psst...I don't think your link is working, because it is only accessible using your password. But if you click on a members Public Profile you can see it.

Also ... a friend or acquaintance of yours has a field on one of the sign-in screens to actually list your username for the referral. It's foreign enough starting out that you about have to be hanging over their shoulder. That's a lot of sugar for a dime.

Yep...as easy as 1,2,3 ~
1) Add an AirForums referral link to your personal website
2) If someone clicks on your link & signs up as a new member
3) You get a point
The points are just for fun...no prize package, just a way to give members with websites some credit for helping the community grow.

I don't know what to tell you...but back to your original question "Is this a bad thing or a good thing?" It's a good thing.

Wow glad to read about this. Glad it doesn't appear on the "permanent record" the principal always talked about. I always wondered what do they do with our 'permanent records' after we graduate anyways?
