Anoying popup!

I frequently get a popup from this site. It seems to popup when
I move my mouse in a certain way. If I do nothing too long it
pops up. It hits me about every 5 to 10 seconds. I always
say "No Thanks" but it keeps coming back.
Am I doomed to say "Yes" and do whatever it wants. Is there
anyway out?

This is what it looks like;

Never click on a blind pop up. It lets them know you are getting them and verifies your IP. Get a good antivirus/pop up program and make sure it is regularly updated.

I think that this is good advice for popup's.

'A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."'

Find and install, "Spybot", and "Malwarebytes".
There are free versions, and they are very good at finding nasty things hiding in your computer!

Today that annoying popup went away! It was there yesterday.
I did not do anything on my part. It is possible that Firefox changed
something behind my back. I think that this web site fixed whatever
problem that caused the popup.

Anyway, I am happy now.

Another free service is "Adblock Plus".
It's added to your browser as an extension.
I get almost no popups.
Some websites ask that I turn it off to view, but I don't.

Right now, I see it's blocking 19 elements.

Good Tip MollysDad.

Im all over that!

I would still run the two programs I suggested, cos I bet there are nasties lurking!

While anyone else is in there, let me repost that Chrome and Firefox have a extension that bypasses the Photobucket picture block, so you see the old thread with all the pictures again!

Switch to an Apple Mac computer and you won't be spending your time running a bunch of apps to stop these assaults on your computer. Got that pop-up once and never again...

Another vote for Adblock Plus. I'm showing that it's blocking 21 elements for me just now. It really improves web browsing, especially here on Air Forums.

Take with a grain of salt. I'm using a Mac and still (obviously) use Adblock Plus.

I also use Adblock plus.
There is a separate download for each browser you are using.

Never seen as many redirects, popups and adds as this website has. Absolutely horrible to navigate. Impossible to log on at work because of the sheer number of redirects the website gets flagged by our virus protection.

popups & redirects

I agree, the redirects are annoying.
Air345fly the popup probably went away because it left a 'Beep' on your computer. Clear the cache and cookies when you close your browser, it will help with keeping you from being tracked. ( the popup may show backup)

Try the browser 'Brave' . I don't see that popup with Brave. I see it with Firefox. Use 'Brave' and that way you don't 'have' to download all those third party apps, unless you want to. 'Brave' fights the adware stuff pretty good.
I use Adblock on 'Opera' and Firefox. I have been using Firefox less and less.

The thing about Brave, it uses a lot of resources on your computer. It has some quirks, but its pretty close to Firefox. Hope taht helps
Have a good one !

Is anyone else having trouble with audio break-through? All of a sudden your computer spits out a segment of televised audio and then cuts it off just as abruptly, because it shouldn't have been happening in the first place?

On Air Forums, this is often associated with a ticker at the bottom of the screen which says things like "Waiting for ads.adaptv.advertising.com...". Sometimes that thing also hangs the website.

I'm wondering if that ad blocker mentioned above would take care of this nonsense. I understand that Air Forums must advertise to generate sustaining revenue, but when those embedded ads start faulting left and right, it's as annoying as hell.

I had a problem with Colton RV popping up on my IPad for a long-time.

Even made a post about it. And then a lot of comments were made and then the thread magically disappeared.

Coincidentally the pop ups stopped as well. Same IPad.

Ex-Apple guy here, tired of paying through the nose for perceived quality. Only hardware problems I ever had were with my Apple products (all of them).
But they are packaged nicely.

Samsung laptop, faster and lighter than my Mac Book, with a good dose of McAfee has the same impact that my Mac did. Never a pop-up.

This is a good suggestion. It has stopped the constant pop-ups I was seeing. I now only see one if I have not signed in. Sometimes I have seen up to 35 elements blocked on this site.

Are there any mods monitoring this thread? Should I start cursing and swearing to attract one, maybe?

FYI, the Adware is crashing the site again today. As I said previously, we all realize that the forum has to advertise to defray expenses. But the Adware routinely faults and takes down pages with it, and this should not be occurring (Chrome browser, desktop environment, MSFT OS).

What happens is that a series of ad hangs culminates in an overload. Here's a screengrab of a representative set of successive issues followed by the inevitable page crash.
