1979 Sovereign 31' "Seasmoke" Re-model
After a couple of years of bursts of progress followed by unforeseen delays, we are hopefully finally settled in to get this job done!
We picked up our 1979 31' Sovereign in 2013 from CanAm RV in London, ON. We were looking for an AS of this size and vintage with an exterior and mechanics in good condition and an interior ready to be re-modelled. The good folks at CanAm looked after us well, and we got exactly what we were looking for. The shell was in excellent condition, all the electrical, plumbing, gas and mechanical elements were in good working order. The interior was in OK shape, good from far but far from good, but since our plan was to gut and re-model that was not an issue. Our first big obstacle was finding a location to do the work. Our only initial option was a friends farm about 90 minutes drive from us. So...after having the necessary hitch work done to my truck, I made my first haul from London Ontario to Warkworth in late March snow storm and we were ready to begin.

Looks like you're well on your way to a great remodel! If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend checking to see if you have any leaks while you've got the interior gutted. I made the mistake of NOT checking for leaks while I had the interior gutted only to find them AFTER I did our remodel. By that time I regretted not taking down the interior skin and re-sealing all the seams from the inside. Now I'm stuck resealing seams from the outside (ugly, and tedious).
