Description: Bluewater Lake State Park, New Mexico.
Nice lake views from many sites, central dump & water available. Possible boondocking at N. edge of lake. Good digital cell service. Sites with hookups do not have lake views.

Pros: nice lake for fishing, can drive on beach.
Cons: run down camping areas

This park used to be a nice overnight stop but over the past couple of years it has become rundown and dirty. Last time I visited was Oct. 2008. About half of the electric sites had a out of order bag over the outlets. The rest room and shower area was filithy and almost everything in them was broken or cracked. During the day the locals actually herded a flock of sheep thru the campground.
At night, about 3am someone tried my door. That was it for me, never again.

Pros: Nice lake
Cons: Electric sites look crowded

The website for this park says open 24 hours. However when we arrived at 9pm, the gates were closed and locked. Since it is down a winding hilly road we decided to camp at the gate. Don't know why they lock the gate, there is nothing there to steal. Oct. 2010
