Description: Woodlands Park is at the eastern edge of the Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior State Park. It is a municipal park that is right at the edge of Lake Superior and has full beach access. Interior roads gravel/sandy roads. Sites are level and of various sizes. A few pull through sites are available, but most are back ins. Water, 30 amp electric, cable tv available. They have a laundry, flush toilets, and showers. It is within 2 blocks, walking distance of Grand Marais where gas and supplies are available.
To get to Woodlands Park from Mackinaw City in the UP of Michigan- go north on I 75, exit onto Rt. 2 at St. Ignace exit, take Rt. 2 west to Rt. 77 North to Grand Marais. Where Rt. 77 ends turn left onto paved side street, Brazel St., and continue about 1 block. The entrance is on the right side of the road.

Pros:
Cons:

I have been in this park many times. I have never stayed there. Though the area around it is simply stunning, the campground, even with hookups is not nearly as cozy as one might like. If you have to have hookups, this is your place, if you like to be more secluded and can boondock, your best bet is to go onto H-58 (gravel roads) and find some of the campgrounds both State Forest campgrounds and federal campgrounds southwest of this campground. There are some right next to the waters of Lake Superior and a few inland lake campgrounds that are simply stunning that words cannot do justice.
