Description: Furnace Creek is a delightful campground in the early Spring, Winter, and late Fall. Summer temperatures regulary hover well over 100 degrees, and the hottest temperature ever recorded at 134 degrees was not far from here. The night time sky is pretty incredible with very little light pollution.

There are about 10 sites that now have full hookups, and this is where we stayed in site #50. The remaining sites are dry camping with generator use allowed. There are flush toilet facilities throughout the camp but no showers. A dump station is located in the campground.

The camp is located a stones throw from the Furnace Creek Resort area and the Death Valley Visitor Center, and is an easy bike ride to get supplies at the store or go grab a burger or a cocktail at the cafe. Resort and gas prices are very high due to the vast distances to travel to restock.

The full hookup (water, sewer, 30A power) site where we stayed was very nice with excellent views of the surrounding mountains. Even though the hook up sites are only about 30' apart. they are offset so your trailer does not have another trailer directly in front of it. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each site. The water quality was excellent which surprised me. There was some road noise from Hwy 190 about 1/4 mile away but not that bad and after dark it was almost non existent. Generator noise was present, but being in a full hookup spot kept that to a minimum. We paid $18/night for full hookups which is the same as the other sites. I believe that price will be going up to $35/night for the hookup spaces however.

The rangers were very friendly and not in your face at all. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov

Pros: nice level sites with beautiful view and well spaced sites
Cons: generator noise - some road noise at certain times

loved amping here - bough day passes to the hot spring swimming pool at Furnace Creek Ranch next door. Floating in the warm pool staring at the stars and night sky was a fabulous experience we repeated every night.
