Description: Millerton Lake State Recreation Area has over 40 miles of shoreline for water sports. Recreation includes swimming, fishing, and boating. The lake was created by construction of the Friant Dam across the San Joaquin River in 1944. The hills surrounding the lake provide good hiking opportunities.
Wildlife in the park includes ground squirrels, cottontails, mule deer, badgers, and bald and golden eagles.
During winter, the park has special boat tours that view the bald eagles. The park contains the original Millerton County Courthouse, built in 1867. The park's camping facilities include boat camping.

This campground has sites with full hook-ups and sites without. Pet friendly. Just a short walk down the hill to the water.
Located approx. 20 miles from Fresno. Small town of Friant located about a 10-15 from campground.

Campsites with full hook-ups are close together in a 'parking lot' style set up. Shaded by Eualyptus trees. Parking slots are wide enough to park trailer and tow vehicle side by side. Campsites without hook ups are scattered up the hill near nice old oak trees.
Hook up sites #117 thru #131 will have the sunset facing your awning. Lots of extra parking behind these sites too. $10 per day per extra car.
Beware of the brazen raccoons!

Pros: Full hook-ups, close to the water. Mild winter weather
Cons: HOT HOT HOT in the summer

Full hook-up sites are 'parking lot' style but do have fire rings and picnic tables. Sites are just wide enough for rig and TV. Lots of overflow parking. Has great winter, spring and fall weather. Very hot in the summer. Right on the lake, lots of boating and fishing. Has showers that are fairly clean. Coin-op showers. Semi-hook ups and non hook-up sites are scattered around the cove. Lots of oak tress.
