Description: On Scenic Byway 12 between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks, the Shooting Star Drive-In features an Airstream-only RV Park in the East Meadow with a river rock fire pit, a large pavilion for “indoor dining” and breathtaking 360-degree views of the Grand Staircase, the Escalante Mountains and Dixie National Forest. There are 18 large pull-through sites, nine with full hook-ups ($40) and nine with power and water ($30). There’s a convenient clean-out near the office, which also hosts a full indoor bath and shower for our Airstream Guests.

And yes, there is a drive-in! When the sun sets, the tops come down on the 1960s convertibles parked in the drive-in, guests hop in and the big screen lights up with vintage cartoons, cliff-hangers like Flash Gordon, and the feature attraction – a film from 1946 through 1969. The Snack Shack – a converted 1977 Airstream Sovereign, serves classic movie fare throughout the evening’s entertainment, which often includes a celestial light show.

Pros: Location, Drive-in, Mark the owner, refurbished airstreams, full hook-ups
Cons:

We were there for 2 nights, September 17 and 18th 2011. Mark, the owner is so much fun and has done an outstanding job creating his site. There are 8 Airstreams that you can stay in or bring your own. The sites have full hook-ups too. It's an excellent place to stay, un-hook and tour Rt.12 which is an amazing road. You can go to Bryce, Zion, Kodachrome and Capital Reef from here. It is 1 mile from Escalante which has a small grocery, liquor store and a few shops. Not an overly crowded part of Rt 12....yet... which is what we really liked about the area. Mark gave us a tour of the airstreams which were decorated to be like movie-star trailers from movies - he has thought of everything from the best sheets, towels and props from the movies. We watched "Rebel without a cause" in a 1965 Ford Galaxy. The concession stand is a 1977 Airstream completely redone with everything from popcorn, ice-cream
to those old time candy cigarettes. We had so much fun and will be back next year!
