This is a city campground few know about. Located near the top of the hill on which Monterey, CA sits, it bordered by the Presidio and urban neighborhoods. It's actually only a couple miles from Fisherman's Wharf, but it's a world away. There are about 40 sites of varying size, some only for tents. Those that can accommodate an Airstream are pretty level, but bring wheel blocks. The web site says 21' is maximum, but I've seen many rigs 30' and over. It depends on what sites are available.
No hookups, but faucets scattered around. Hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station. Wood fires are not permitted in dry season.
To get there, find Jefferson Street in Monterey and take it almost to the top ( 2 - 3 miles). Park and campground entrance is on the right.
