Description:
|
This park is relatively small as far as number of spaces, but it does not disappoint in VA state park amenities. Area A is more rustic and sites are all back-in and tar&chip and not necessarily even close to level. Campground B is all paved and generally level. There are (I think) 5 pull-throughs. A newly built shower / bathroom / laundry house is in Area B. Fire pits all have a cooking grate. Firewood is available on-site and will be delivered to your site by the camp host. There is a playground but you will have to drive or bike to it as it is near the visitors center for the park. There is also a plantation and tractor museum at the same park, but again it is a bike or car ride from the campground. Access to the north shore of the James River (Williamsburg, Jamestown, etc.) is via ferry which leaves the south shore of the James about a 5 minute drive from the campground. The ferry ride itself is 20 min., but accounting for wait times / loading / unloading eats up about 45min to 1 hour for a one-way trip.
