Levering the shell off #1

IT was surprising how light the shell is and how easily it came off the chassis when all the riverts and bolts were undone. I did this with the help of my brother. Just the 2 of us. |

Showing the temporary cross braces

| Description |
We were advised to fit temporary 4x2 cross braces and also to brace the door. This is essential as the shell flexes so much when removed from the chassis. I am still worried about how easy it will be to refit the shell back on to the newly floor fitted chassis! |

Belly skin removed

Next we removed the belly skin. This was very torn and will all need to be replaced. |

Jacked high on stands
|
| Description |
We jacked the trailer high on truck jack stands so we could later lower the chassis after separating the shell. ALso note the new wheels and tires. I had a tricky job fitting the 2.25x15 tires through the wheel arch. They *only* just go in. Oddly one side was much easier then the other. |

The inside skin comes off

| Description |
We initially wanted to patch the bits of obviously rotten floor, but found it was pretttty bad in 4 places. After advice on this forum and through the VAC and other Airstream lists we decided to bite the bullet and have the shell off to replace the floor properly. Here is the inner skin removed. |

At the Dump all inside junk out!

| Description |
We removed everything inside and then piled it up at one end, then drove the trailer straight to the dump. Out the door and then we were done! We had to weigh the trailer on the way in - it was 1750lbs full of junk and then on the way out, it was 1300 lbs as an empty shell |
