'97 Airstream Norman Rockwell Edition

Can anyone help me with some background on the Norman Rockwell Edition Airstream? I would like to know how many were made. I would also like to hear from other owners.

Hmmm.... no replies.... looks like you have a pretty unique piece here. I saw one at the Region 4 Rally this year. VERY nostaligic. You're pretty lucky to have it.

Someone at Airstream should be able to answer this. I seem to remember our dealer telling us they were limited to 48 trailers or one per state.

We parked next to a Norman Rockwell Edition at the Statue of Liberty Rally in NJ this summer and became acquainted with it's owner who was from Ohio. From what I recall they were a special edition trailer in the 34' length and only available one year(IIRC?).

Then, on the way back from that rally, we stopped at Jackson Center and another Norman Rockwell pulled up and we talked to that owner.

Here's some things I gleaned from both. These trailers were equipped with an innovative instant-hot water heater which unfortunately was failure-prone. A/s no longer supports it. If you have trouble they'll send you to the manufacturere (somewhere in Ohio) or swap it out. Our acquintainces both had trouble with them and were having them swapped out. Also, A/s is running out of the special graphics for the outsides of the trailer. When they're all gone--that's it. Like any stick-on type of stuff, they'll eventually have to be replaced. They are beautiful though! I believe I also remember something special about the wheels and those are no longer available, too.

Here's a pic of one I got at the International this year.

I have a Norman Rockwell edition, I purchased it in 2010 from a past president of the WBCCI, and they purchased it new, they lived in Jackson Center Oh. The trailer was in Florida just above Tampa at what used to be a Airstream only park and there winter retreat as snowbirds do. I asked Jackson Center about it and they said that they was made 1 for each state and that was all that was produced and that they only knew of 32 in existance as of June 2010. Yes they are a very rare indeed and I would venture to say that as time goes on they will get even more rare.
I plan on making repairs and have it re-coated to bring it back to as original as possible, as 2-4 years of sitting in the Florida sun/sand/rain has taken it toll on the coating not to mention the minor damage caused by the previous owners/weather.

I know of one here recently in the Bay Area (Byron, CA). The former owner lived on Bethel Island, CA, his trailer it ended up with an Auction company via an estate sale and they turned around and sold it on ebay sometime around July. I'm not sure where it ended up but the Auction Company's name was: Nationwide Fleet
Located at 14777 Byron Hwy Byron, CA.

Have you decided on a price yet? I know there was 2 recently sold on Ebay, 1 went for just over 25 grand and the other just over 23,500

We are looking into a motorhome and if we take that leap I will also be selling mine.

1997 Limited Edition Norman Rockwell 34 ft airstream

We are thinking of asking $26,000 as we've made a lot of improvements including laminate flooring, and TV antenna, new main awning. We're taking it to Bates RV in Dover, FL because we have no space to store it.

When we were at Alumaflamingo and hooked up to water, we noticed the carpet was wet in the bedroom and bathroom floor. I think it is related to the toilet. Is this a common problem and where should I check to find the leak?

I would look at the water lines under the sink next to the toilet, if there is a leak in the line weather it is broke or leaky that is most likely where it is from. I would generally rule out the toilet as they do not hold water and are directly or close to being right above the tank, but you could check anyways by simply seeing if the toilet moves if you grab ahold of it. All so if you passed through any rain/storms/hard I would also tend to look at the vent as they have a major tendancy to leak more than anything

Thanks Sarge,
We decided to buy an new toilet as the old one needed to be rebuilt. I am pretty sure the issue was the water valve or vacuum valve. I think this was due to the trailer sitting for a long time and allowed to freeze with out proper winterization
