Split Rim Or Not?

Okay, I need your guys help, again. I am slowly talking myself into the '64 we looked at. It looks like it has the original wheels (which in the brochure are supposed to be split rims). If they are split rims, what will they identifying factor be? I went through all the threads on wheels with no luck, I see that some of you have dealt with them though. They don't have a outer ring with bolts that hold an outer ring (unless they bolt up from the backside?) They did appear to have to two rim "lips" or edges on the outside seperated by an inch or two (which was painted silver vs. the rest of the rim which is black). Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jason

Split rims work by compressing a metal ring, there will be a "split" about 3/4" from the edge to identify them. They are dangerous, a lot of tire outfits won't work on them. I don't know about the smaller wheels, but they are illegal on the big trucks.
